Senior Product Security Engineer

Who we're looking for

The Security Automation team is looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and deploy innovative software solutions that make security easier for Zendesk and its customers. We believe in continuous improvement and are eager to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to address security-focused challenges while upholding strong engineering fundamentals.

Note**: This is a hybrid role, combining remote and on-site work, requiring 3 days in the office, and relocation to Pune.
 

What you’ll be doing

• Evaluate, implement, and maintain engineering solutions to address security challenges.

• Automate and integrate security tooling into CI/CD pipelines. Monitor and improve system reliability and observability.

• Identify broad and selective testing needs and make informed decisions to implement effective testing mechanisms. Drive effort to improve existing tests and remove outdated ones.

• Focus on improving our infrastructure, code quality, and processes while ensuring thoroughness and longevity in your code.

• Understand stakeholder processes broadly to identify how we can simplify and enhance their workflows. Quickly learn and adapt to new ecosystems, tailoring our solutions to fit within them.

• Take ownership of processes from conception to delivery. Estimate and prioritize work effectively.

• Continuously enhance your own and your teammates’ technical skills through mentoring, PR reviews, and constructive feedback.

• Collaborate within a team-oriented, fast-paced, global, and flexible environment.

What you bring to the role

• Extensive experience in a full-stack application engineering role.

• Proven understanding of web application development with excellent knowledge of back-end and front-end technologies.

• Strong problem-solving skills; you excel at investigating complex issues and determining the most appropriate solutions.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with security and engineering teams worldwide, including asynchronous communication.

• A passion for learning and applying knowledge, with a strong emphasis on mentorship and teaching to support the team's collective growth.

• An interest in security or a desire to learn more about this domain.

Nice to haves

• Experience with React/TypeScript and Ruby on Rails.

• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.

• Experience operating within and securing large AWS deployments.

• Experience building or maintaining tools for CI/CD environments.

• Any background in application or infrastructure security is a plus.

• Experience managing cross-collaboration projects and driving stakeholder engagement.

Please note that Zendesk can only hire candidates who are physically located and plan to work from Karnataka or Maharashtra. Please refer to the location posted on the requisition for where this role is based.

Hybrid: In this role, our hybrid experience is designed at the team level to give you a rich onsite experience packed with connection, collaboration, learning, and celebration - while also giving you flexibility to work remotely for part of the week. This role must attend our local office for part of the week. The specific in-office schedule is to be determined by the hiring manager.
