Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems is excited to offer a unique professional growth and learning opportunity for a Staff Integration & Test Engineer – System Integration Engineer (25-062) to join our team at Schriever Space Force Base, CO. This role is ideal for experienced engineers in network engineering, computer science, or related fields who are looking to advance their careers in a dynamic environment.

Position Overview:

The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program integrates the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, to see the battle develop collectively, and to dynamically manage designated networked sensors and weapons systems to achieve global and regional mission objectives. C2BMC supports a layered missile defense capability that enables an optimized response to threats of all ranges in all phases of flight. C2BMC is the force multiplier that globally and regionally networks integrate, synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations to optimize performance. C2BMC is integral to all system ground and flight tests, which verify and exercise all current and future missile defense system capabilities.

The selected candidate will play a pivotal role in our team, leading a group of system integrators, planning and conducting system integration activities, supporting program iteration planning, managing resource allocation, and coordinating the development and execution of detailed test plans and procedures. This leadership position requires a self-starter with strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment. Some non-frequent travel to fielded CONUS or OCONUS sites may be required.

Essential Functions:

  • Execute test of network devices' communication paths and capacity performance, conduct post-test data analysis and reporting
  • Create and track Problem Reports to document issues and assist Developers with investigating and resolving comments on testability issues and obvious design flaws
  • Anticipate data collection points and plan for and conduct anomaly tests and analysis as required

  • Must possess strong interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills, enabling them to work effectively in a small technical team environment and to accurately represent test perspectives to C2BMC system architects, software designers, other testers, test support personnel, the Government customer, and personnel in other MDA programs
  • This position drives impact across the program through:
    • Integrating and troubleshooting both test and operational systems with issues often down to the OS level (Windows/LINUX/UNIX/RHEL)
    • Develop and modify scripts to gather data
    • Perform data analysis on message traffic while working closely with internal and government customers
    • Author detailed test plans/procedures and troubleshooting procedures
    • Plan and lead integration tests with external elements and sensors
    • Document test results, prepare / brief test status and results to internal and external customers
  • Must have experience using DoD test methodologies
  • Infrastructure-related test/analysis planning and execution
  • Planning and execution of test data collection, test data analysis, and reporting
  • The analysis experience should involve characterizing system, software, or component performance using quantitative methods, reporting the characterization to subsequent users, and contributing to performance assessment by a program system engineer
  • Experience may come from independent efforts and/or from participation in test teams
  • Candidate must possess strong leadership and level-appropriate interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal, to include demonstrated experience with briefing customers, team leadership, and high-level program personnel
