Position Overview

The Cloud Data Scientist and AI Engineer role leads delivery, solution architecture, and technical excellence to ensure we can deliver mission outcomes for our customers. The Data Scientist / AI Engineer is focused on designing, developing and deploying architectures for cloud-based and on-prem AI solutions to continuously improve the mission fit, effectiveness, security, and cost of AI solutions.  The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, integrating, and maintaining secure, scalable, and efficient AI infrastructures, ensuring the highest level of security and compliance with federal government standards. This role involves managing both on-premises and cloud environments in support of sensitive, mission-critical systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in architectural discussions and lead design of AI-based solutions (cloud and on-prem) for development and operations
  • Design, configure, and manage classified cloud-based development environments (AWS, Azure) and physical network devices (routers, switches, firewalls, etc.)
  • Develop and facilitate evaluations for model and use cases
  • Develop robust and high-quality AI infrastructure, supporting CSP frontier model access and bespoke model development and deployment
  • Collaborate with development, security, and cloud engineering teams to integrate AI models with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation
  • Work closely with government stakeholders to design scalable and secure AI architectures for evolving mission-critical needs (i.e., development and operations)
  • Facilitate delivery and deployment of operational AI capabilities (i.e., MaaS, MLOps)
Qualifications

Required:

  • Current US Top Secret SCI and CI poly
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related technical discipline
  • Proficient designing, integrating, and implementing AI-based solutions in the cloud (e.g. Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS) Bedrock)
  • Experience integrating, fine-tuning, testing, and deploying/integrating machine learning models in various domains (e.g., NLP, computer vision)
  • Experience designing and deploying pipelines for the continuous integration and development of AI models
  • Hands-on experience with frontier models, open-source platforms (e.g., Hugging Face) and prompt engineering
  • Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Podman)
  • Experience with container orchestration using Kubernetes (K8s)
  • Experience with CI/CD Pipeline-based GitOps deployments
  • Experience programming in Python, including frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow
  • Ability to collaborate as a team but execute independently
  • Thrives in a high-trust, adaptable team environment
  • Proficient in Linux-based development environments (e.g., Ubuntu, RedHat Enterprise Linux, or derivatives)
  • Experience with cloud-based, on-prem, and hybrid cloud/hardware- based development environments
  • Experience testing model outcomes
  • Experience providing daily guidance and oversight to other engineers
  • Experience contributing to or leading the design of new capabilities
  • Experience leading communications with customers and end-users 
  • Experience with a version control code repository, such as GitLab

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with the Cyber Operations Domain
  • Familiarity with Cross-Domain Solution (CDS) dataflows, schemas, and operations
  • Familiarity with Scaled Agile Framework

Working Environment:

  • On-site work at government facilities or classified secure locations 3+ days a week.
  • Collaborative, high-stakes environment with government stakeholders, working with cutting-edge cloud and AI networking technologies
