Job Description

Job title: Head of Sector Delivery

Department: Global Consumer Electronics

Reporting to: Head of BU

Location: Bristol (although possible to be based elsewhere, if able and willing to travel regularly)

Purpose and objectives of the role

This position involves the development and supervision of global delivery capabilities within Sector Business Units. The ‘home’ department for the position is the Global Consumer Electronics (GCE) sector BU, but the nature of project makes it likely that projects in other sectors (such as UK Energy) will also be handled by the successful candidate. Some delivery team members will report directly to this role, while others will be seconded from Resillion’s practices, centres of excellence in Content, Conformance and Interoperability (C&I), Quality Engineering (QE), and Cybersecurity. The role encompasses establishing a global capability across Resillion’s existing global presence, which includes the UK, Belgium, Netherlands, Bangalore, and Shenzhen, and developing processes to effectively deploy this capability for customers, where necessary on site.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Develop and oversee global capabilities for pre-sales and project delivery, including managing pre-sales bids and overseeing the technical resourcing and project management functions.
  • Establish and manage a delivery team, identifying gaps, training needs, and managing the performance of direct reports, which will include delivery managers from various sectors and seconded managers from other parts of Resillion.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, such as:
    • Customers,
    • Delivery leads from Resillion’s four practices: Content, C&I, QE, and Cyber practices,
    • Regional management within Resillion’s main global centres.
  • Occasionally directly manage early-stage bids to contract and deliver smaller projects.
  • Some short-term travel to customer sites is expected.

Capability Management:

Work with Global HR and regional managers on hiring strategies for various scenarios, including on-site at customer locations worldwide and right-shoring delivery capabilities across Resillion’s global labs to support projects.

Oversee top-level delivery line management, ensuring performance management processes are followed. Develop skills assessments, training plans, and identify gaps, collaborating with the Talent team to address any external resource needs.

Delivery Management:

Develop delivery and project management structures and procedures that align with the overall company design for delivery management, but from a project-based perspective.

Provide oversight, implement a reporting cycle, and operate a Project Management function to ensure projects adhere to schedule, scope, quality, and budget.

Communicate with a wide range of internal stakeholders and assist Project Managers in accessing Resillion's capabilities, including other practice leads and technical experts, to deliver value to customers.

Serve as the primary escalation point to resolve conflicts related to resourcing, priorities, and customer issues. Identify options and, in collaboration with the project manager, secure stakeholder support to address these conflicts.

Skills required by the role

  • Project Management: Expertise in APM, PMI, PRINCE2, and Agile methodologies (including Scrum, Kanban, and DSDM), with adaptable application based on situational requirements. Proficient in risk identification, mitigation strategies, quality assurance, budget control, and time management.
  • Ownership and Adaptability: Capable of undertaking challenges and completing them successfully by coordinating with relevant parties to resolve issues and achieve goals. Adapts to evolving circumstances, approaches change positively and proactively seeks solutions.
  • Relationship Management and Effective Communication: Skilled at building robust relationships and clearly communicating information and expectations to all stakeholders.
  • Mentoring and Coaching: Provides guidance and support to facilitate the growth and development of team members.
  • Negotiation & Conflict Resolution: Adept at negotiating with stakeholders and addressing and resolving conflicts effectively.
  • Empathy and Emotional Intelligence: Understanding and addressing the emotional needs of team members.

Qualifications

  • Project Management: Proficient in software development processes and practices, with experience in delivering projects of varying sizes involving multiple stakeholders.
  • People Management: Demonstrates real-world application of people management techniques, including team expansion and adaptation to change.
  • Leadership: Experienced in leading software teams with a focus on people management responsibilities.
