The Engineering Lead, DevSecOps & Automation is a senior technical role at Ontario Teachers’ responsible for supporting the introduction of infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools and infrastructure automation services.
This role encompasses the development of infrastructure automation strategy, cloud migration planning, IaC design, and continuous DevSecOps improvement. The Engineering Lead collaborates with various service providers and internal partners to implement cloud migration and IaC delivery.
Additionally, this role involves detailed application migration planning, analyzing automation opportunities, and translating technical requirements into infrastructure-as-Code solutions and Azure services designs that align with business application needs and cloud standards.
Who you'll work with
This role is additionally responsible for relationship management with key vendors and internal partners, managing services, processes and KPIs, related to IaC automation effectiveness, customer and partner satisfaction, system design quality and system availability.
What you'll do
Utilize your expertise in Cloud/Azure to manage servers, storage and networking, contribute to the development and enhancement of OTPP’s standards, policies and best practices, and create automation scripts to implement these standards and policies
Leverage your expertise in Cloud application deployment patterns to assess the Cloud/Azure infrastructure service requirements for each OTPP application targeted for Cloud migration.
Utilize your experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) design patterns to develop IaC solution options that address the Cloud infrastructure service needs.
Apply your technical planning skills and implementation experience to create an IaC roadmap, detailing the automation capabilities that will be available to support Cloud migration initiatives.
Utilize your leadership skills to guide the implementation of automation capabilities across multiple teams, ensuring the achievement of milestones outlined in the IaC roadmap.
Leverage your application and IaC knowledge to oversee the provisioning of Cloud infrastructure services using IaC automation capabilities, ensuring support for each application migration.
Create IaC training materials, lead workshops and collaborate with operational teams to ensure seamless adoption of IaC tools.
Collaborate with other leads to enhance the current Ontario Teachers’ IaC Tool and Automation Framework, which includes Spacelift orchestration, Ansible AWX deployment platform, and OTPP-developed Terraform and Ansible modules, using your IaC insights.
Conduct market research of leading tools and evaluate solution vendors, including performing Proof of Concepts for new technologies. Present these recommendations clearly and understandably to senior management.
What you'll need
A minimum of 10 years in IT
Minimum of three years of experience with the following technologies: Terraform, Git, Ansible, Spacelift
Three or more years in designing, developing, deploying and administering tools and automation services and technologies
Five or more years of experience in designing Enterprise Infrastructure Services running various Compute, Network & Storage ecosystems
Three or more years in managing Automation platforms
Three or more years’ experience in DevSecOps & Automation
Demonstrated ability to generate and maintain technical documentation
Experience in contributing to a complete Project Life Cycle process including but not limited to project; Request-Discovery- Planning-Delivery and Closure milestones
