This co-op position offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in cyber threat intelligence (CTI), breach and attack simulation (BAS), and ethical hacking within both IT and OT environments. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of actionable threat intelligence, assist in setting up and utilizing BAS solutions, and apply ethical hacking techniques to identify and address vulnerabilities. This role is ideal for a highly motivated student looking to enhance their cybersecurity skills and contribute to a dynamic security team.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the collection and analysis of cyber threat intelligence from diverse sources.
- Conduct analysis of cyber threats, focusing on Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs) to recommend and implement enhanced detection and response strategies.
- Contribute to Cyber Threat Intelligence efforts to strengthen the organization’s response to security incidents and improve overall security performance.
- Help manage and fine-tune Cyber Threat Intelligence tools, ensuring optimal performance and relevance.
- Implement automation solutions to streamline Cyber Threat Intelligence processes, increasing efficiency and effectiveness.
- Learn to prepare Cyber Threat Intelligence reports and briefings, tailored to a diverse audience.
- Suggest and implement customized threat detection rules and use cases, boosting the organization’s ability to detect and respond to threats.
- Assist in the deployment and utilization of Breach and Attack Simulation (BAS) tools to assess the effectiveness of security measures.
- Learn and apply ethical hacking techniques to identify vulnerabilities in computer systems, networks and ICS assets (e.g. PLCs, RTUs, DCSs, IIoT sensors, gateways, etc.)
- Collaborate with security teams to prioritize vulnerabilities based on potential impact and exploitability, utilizing gathered and analyzed vulnerability intelligence.
- Monitor and assess the global threat landscape, including threat actors, malware, TTPs, and geopolitical events that may impact the organization.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a Master's degree program in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Understanding of cyber threats, attack vectors, and common exploitation techniques.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity technologies related to SIEM, Microsoft Operating Systems, Network Security Concepts, EDR solutions, Vulnerability Management, Identity and Access Management, and Cloud environments.
- Basic knowledge of threat intelligence platforms, open-source tools, and security information and event management (SIEM) systems.
- Interest in industry frameworks and standards, such as MITRE ATT&CK.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to analyze complex data sets and identify actionable insights.
Preferred Skills
- Interest in Cyber Threat Intelligence tools (e.g., MISP, OpenCTI).
- Interest in performing OSINT investigations.
- Familiarity with ethical hacking techniques and tools.
- Awareness of Security Operations Center (SOC) operations.
- Fluency in English, written and verbal communication skills
- Interest in developing presentation skills and translate complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
This co-op position offers a valuable opportunity to gain practical experience in the field of Threat Intelligence, Security Monitoring and Breach & Attack simulation tools and contribute to the development of innovative mitigation strategies.
This is an in-office role based in Norwood, MA. Temporary relocation support provided for selected qualified candidate.
