RMC is seeking a Sr. System Administrator - Tier II Lead to join our team, the selected candidate will play a pivotal role in the support and services for the Research, Development, Test & Evaluation (RDT&E) environments.

Duties include:

  • Provide Lead support to Tier II System Admins in determining solutions to the needs and problems experienced by the end user
  • Provide day to day oversight for Tier II System Admin tasking, ensuring respond to tickets / on-site service call/urgent work stoppage needs within 60 minutes to begin troubleshooting resolutions.  
  • Generate Team metrics, status reporting and additional reporting requirements as needed. 
  • Train new team members on all Tier II functions and provide mentor support to all Team members
  • Determine the vulnerability risks for workstations and applications utilizing appropriate Cybersecurity scanning techniques. 
  • Perform mitigation steps to reduce or lessen the likelihood of known risk occurrence to an acceptable level.
  • Ensure that appropriate STIG (Security Technical Implementation Guide) processes are performed and adhered to.  
  • Analyze Cybersecurity requirements and support the design, development and integration of software-based solutions where appropriate.
  • Perform software installation of applications that provide or enhance the security of individual platforms, systems and/or networks.
  • Provide technical support by conducting analyses and record findings on current patches to ensure compliance status is maintained on RDT&E assets.
  • Provide technical support by generating and providing compliance standard reports and data used in the Assessment & Authorization process.  
  • Ensure proper configuration and implementation of security controls are maintained to retain the appropriate level of Cybersecurity compliance.
  • Install software applications that provide or enhance the security of individual platforms, systems and/or networks.
  • Support government personnel in the documentation and information removal of hard drives, tape, and optical disc in accordance with local and DOD policy to enhance the data integrity of RDT&E
  • Provide administration of NMCI shared space to include, creation of security groups, assignment of permissions, data migration as needed, and quarterly PII spot checks.
  • Provide hardware and software support for RDT&E network connected workstations, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure devices, NMCI developer devices, and applications to ensure that operability requirements are up to date and that the devices meet CS hardware configuration requirements.
  • Maintain user documentation in an effective manner to include all new development, maintenance, and enhancement changes.
  • Monitor and perform maintenance analysis and diagnostics for NSWC Crane’s accredited networks, such as the Unclassified and Classified RDT&E
  • Plan and schedule the installation of hardware, operating systems, and applications software
  • Manage system resources including performance, capacity, availability, serviceability, and recoverability.
  • Implement security procedures and tools, develop and document systems administration standard operating procedures, and resolve hardware and software interface and interoperability problems.
  • Ensure systems availability, functionality, integrity and efficiency and maintain systems configuration.
  • Manage the installation and integration of systems fixes updates and enhancements and ensure the rigorous application of information security policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of systems administration service.

Provide Lead Support for Telecommunications and Video Teleconference to include:                                 

  • Performs systems engineering and technical support for testing, upgrading and operational support of VTC systems, hardware and software, as well as troubleshooting and replacement of VTC equipment when required.
  • Assist in planning, facilitation, and execution of VTC equipment upgrades and installations.
  • Determine the vulnerability risks for VTC workstations, servers, networks and applications utilizing appropriate Cybersecurity scanning techniques. Upon risk identification, the contractor will perform mitigation steps to reduce risk.
  • Provide analysis and recommendations concerning other government VTC Systems and their components and capabilities.
  • Schedule routine and non-routine maintenance and repairs on equipment with vendors.
  • Operate government equipment in the execution of VTC sessions.
  • Ensure connectivity with other sites is maintained or perform trouble shooting methods to determine lost connection and to re-establish connectivity.
  • Perform oversight and coordination on scheduling and setup of portable VTC services including modifying equipment, components and wiring.
  • Tasking will require access to unclassified government information system and classified government VTC information in systems up to SECRET.
  • Perform Local Element (LE) duties and responsibilities necessary for the support Secure VTC sessions.
  • Perform daily tests of ITD managed VTC systems to confirm functionality and connectivity.
  • Assist in the setup and operation of video streaming services.
  • Maintain a calendar on the SharePoint Site for scheduling and hosting meetings/VTC sessions
  • Coordinate delivery and storage of telecommunication devices organized by part number in the designated storage area, maintain an accurate count of each part number and report quantities as requested by Telecommunications Control Officer (TCO).
  • Hours of operation for the enterprise VTC/conference support will be at a minimum 0800-1600, flexibility may be required to accommodate meeting schedules.

Primary location of work is local to NSWC Crane, Crane, IN, the third largest naval installation in the world. Travel may be required to other locations.  NSWC Crane, is a shore command of the U.S. Navy, and is under the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) headquartered in Washington DC. NSWC Crane operates under the Department of the Navy enterprise wide network and computing environment with standard architecture and services, and a uniformly high level of cybersecurity.

Requirements

  • Seven (7) years of experience in IT is required (workstation configuration, deployment, operation and maintenance of Microsoft operating systems)
  • Five (five) years experience in Microsoft Active Directory
  • Must hold Cyber Security Workforce Qualification - Security+/SecurityX, CASP, CISSP, or equivalent IAT-2 or IAT-3 certification is required.
  • Security Clearance: An interim DoD Secret security clearance or higher is required to start. Applicant selected may be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Problem-solving abilities and a proactive attitude to identify and address potential issues

Salary at RMC is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, a candidate's specific combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific requirements. The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $120,000.
