The Compliance Risk Auditor conducts internal compliance audits and risk assessments at Suffolk Credit Union.
Responsibilities:

Perform regulatory compliance risk audits and operational process tests, identifying issues and recommendations.

Conduct risk assessments and testing related to compliance with banking laws and regulations.

Communicate audit and risk assessment results to management in written reports monthly.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of credit union regulations and internal audit practices; complete annual training.

Review and approve credit union advertisements for compliance.

Monitor, assign, and trend member complaints.

Coordinate with legal for reviewing trust, guardianship, and POA documentation.

Assist with employee training as needed.

Respond to employee questions about compliance, security, and fraud programs.

Complete or coordinate special projects as assigned by management.

Assist in researching suspicious activities or control issues.

Provide backup for other departmental staff as needed.
Essential Qualifications:
- Knowledge of risk analysis techniques and theories, with a proficient understanding of regulatory environments affecting the financial industry
- Knowledge of the financial industry operations
- Knowledge of facility and information security techniques
- Knowledge of credit union products, services, policies, regulations and procedures
- Knowledge of fraud activity trends and prevention techniques
- Demonstrated skill in preparing audits work papers
- Demonstrated computer and software skills
- Advanced skill with using and analyzing data with spreadsheet software
- Intermediate mathematical and accounting skills
- Ability to handle multiple and complex deadlines
- Ability to express oneself clearly and articulately both orally and in writing
- Skill in gathering, analyzing and compiling complex financial and statistical data
- Skill with independent problem-solving. Ability to exercise tact and responsibility with handling confidential information
- Ability to work with general supervision of daily activities
Qualified candidates will have 3-5 years of compliance, auditing or risk management experience in a financial institution.
Bachelor's degree in Auditing, Risk Management, Finance, Economics or related field required. Equivalent work experience beyond a high school diploma may be substituted for the Bachelor's degree requirement on a year-by-year basis.
