SCOR P&C is growing its Cyber underwriting team to enhance its strategic positioning and establish itself as a technical leader in cyber reinsurance. This new department was created in 2023 to address the growing needs of our clients in what is probably the most interesting and dynamic area of reinsurance.

We are looking for a motivated and curious individual with experience in Cyber security or Cyber insurance and who is looking to build their career within the Reinsurance industry. SCOR offers an unparalleled opportunity to learn about reinsurance and work in a global environment. The Cyber market is developing quickly, and the successful candidate will have an opportunity to play a part in shaping the future of the industry for this strategic line of business at SCOR. 

Cyber is one of the seven Reinsurance Speciality Lines within the SCOR P&C organisation. Cyber benefits from our own dedicated technical functions, including Underwriting, Pricing, Modelling and Claims. The successful candidate will join a growing Cyber underwriting team with teammates across APAC, Europe and the Americas, they should be excited by the prospect of working with a multicultural team.

Effective communication and project management skills are essential for working with various external and internal stakeholders, including Clients, Brokers, P&C Treaty teams, Claims, Actuarial, Legal, Underwriting Management, Group Risk Management, and Senior Management.

Key duties and responsibilities

  • Report to and support the Head of Cyber (based in Paris) for strategy, planning, internal projects, client’s management, renewal and new business, portfolio management & reporting.
  • Coordinate and drive the underwriting activities related to his/her assigned portfolio and contribute to SCOR’s profitable growth in collaboration with the Cyber community (based in Paris London, US, Hong-Kong and China). The scope is worldwide, with a focus on Europe.
  • Serve SCOR’s clients
    • Frequently visit and meet with clients and brokers to build relationships and establish SCOR’s position, convey SCOR’s vision and mission.
    • Review cedants’ strategy, business plan and needs, and develop client engagement plans to provide services to cedants in coordination with Client Managers.
  • Manage the cyber portfolio
    • Monitor market developments and explore trends / cycles and new potentials 
    • Regularly engage with the pricing, reserving and claims teams, keeping them appraised of the latest developments of the portfolio and the market.
    • Contribute to portfolio planning, marketing actions, team process improvement.
  • Grow SCOR’s expertise and offering
    • Contribute to internal projects to enhance SCOR’s offering (services, products).
    • Represent SCOR in working groups, conferences, associations through presentations or articles
    • Contribute to the development of analytics and tools that support SCOR’s technical view.
  • Comply with internal risk appetite and risk management practices
    • Comply with all Enterprise Risk Management rules, including Internal Control System for treaty underwriting and escalation to Head of Cyber and Cyber CUO when appropriate 

Coordinate with Cyber CAT modelling team and manage capacities.

Required experience & competencies

  • 5 to 10 years’ experience in cyber (re)insurance 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. 
  • Excellent relationship building skills. 
  • Ability to make well considered judgements based on constrained information. 
  • High level of commitment, accuracy, diligence and curiosity. 

High degree of self-motivation and eagerness to get to know people and learn. 

Required Education 

  • University or similar education 
  • Insurance / Reinsurance qualifications for Cyber desirable
  • Actuarial or cybersecurity background is a plus

Additional language skills (Spanish, German or French) are desirable
