POSITION SUMMARY

The Jr. Cyber Security Specialist administers, coordinates and evaluates security programs and processes. They assist with policies, standards, analysist, control design and incident response for all of the organization’s needs. The Jr. Cyber Security Specialist provides logistical support, responds to IT trouble tickets, IT Security Incidents and documents changes to the existing GT Independence enterprise security framework. The Jr. Cyber Security Specialist participates in informal and formal control testing also known as penetration testing at the direction of the Cyber Security Specialist. The Jr. Cyber Security Specialist is expected to partake in industry learning opportunities and may travel to remote sites on an as needed basis.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Review, test and recommend physical, technical and administrative security controls.
  • Assist with documentation to track technical and security issues that arise and develop long-term solutions for improved support of organizational needs.
  • Build the knowledge base by managing new and existing documentation.
  • Provide technical support to end users for issues not resolved at Tier I and Tier II.
  • Triage, prioritize, manage, and report on service desk tickets/resolutions.
  • Act on, review and mitigate Security incidents, owning the triage and initial review processes.
  • Assist with security and accreditation auditing practices.
  • Assist with the enterprise risk management processes as needed.
  • Assist with the policy, procedure and guide management.
  • Serve as a security expert and conduct trainings when needed.
  • Preforms security and network analysts tasks to ensure root causes are documented and risks mitigated.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

  • Associates Degree in Cyber Security Related Technology or equivalent job experience
  • Relevant industry certification preferred

 EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Working knowledge of industry and IT security practices.
  • Familiar with programing and network protocols.
  • Familiar with security and penetration tools.
  • Working knowledge of server operating systems and their management.
  • Working knowledge with Cloud technologies.
  • Working knowledge of enterprise data storage solutions.
  • Familiarity with security frameworks.
  • Familiarity with public key infrastructure (PKI) and cryptographic protocols.
  • Analytical mindset with excellent problem solving skills.
  • Attention to detail; Excellence in quality of work.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently manage time.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is primarily performed in an office setting. Requires light lifting of computer equipment. On call and remote work is required for this position.
