The Security Manager Assistance Japan is responsible for the day-to-day security case management direction and execution - to ensure high quality and consistent Security Assistance services, localised to Japan-based clients operating globally primarily, and secondarily to inbound clients to Japan, in line with the direction set by the Senior Security Manager, Assistance and in line with global standards and processes.
The Security Manager/Specialist, Assistance Japan will
•Closely collaborate with a wider Security Services communities Japan and Lead Security Centres, as well as the relevant Assistance Centre colleagues from the Operations, Medical, Flight Desks and Assistance Travel teams ensuring the relevant cases contain an appropriate security risk assessment as part of any response and plan of action.
•Work closely with Lead Analysts and the Security Managers in Asia to ensure operational planning and case management guidance is done in lockstep with our intelligence assessments, ensuring operational planning for Japan in both business-as-usual and major incident response scenarios are being fed by, and aligned with, the analytical position and outlook on a timely basis.
•Contribute to the development and maintenance of a strong security provider network, engaging routinely with new and existing service providers in Japan
•Act as a SME spokesperson in support of Sales and Marketing on issues pertaining to Japan and Japan-based clients’ interest worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
Core Security Assistance Responsibilities
•Ensure the delivery of high-quality written and verbal security risk management and crisis management advice and assistance in line with agreed service delivery standards and requirement of Japan-based clients;
•Support the delivery of complex and interventional assistance cases under direction of Senior Security Leadership in Japan.
•Collaborate with relevant stakeholders in the Assistance Centres, Flight Desks, & Travel Advisor teams to ensure comprehensiveness of case management and operational planning outputs in addition to overall economy of effort.
•Ensure customer feedback, positive and constructive, is captured through the appropriate channels
•Ensure International SOS’ operational posture and planning for Japan is taken in full view of the security outlook
•Develop and maintain security provider and hotel network in Japan, and ensure client-facing secure hotel information, and internal security provider information is up to date and reflective of the current risk environment and scaled to International SOS’ analytical and operational position
•Support to country and regional security escalations including the production of Party Lines, Crisis Management Team (CMT) briefings and the oversight and management of crisis-related RFAs including the production of POAs and related execution as well as deployment at short notice as part of an Incident Management Team in Asia and worldwide as required
Information & Analysis Support
•Support information collection and corroboration effort in both crisis and business as usual situations under the direction of Information & Analysis team.
•Support development and maintenance of localized contents meet Information and Analysis needs of Japan-based clients and engage with appropriate Regional and Group stakeholders as required.
Consulting Delivery & Sales, Marketing Support
•As required, deliver safety and security trainings and workshops as well as engage in client specific security assistance consultancy tasks as required.
•Support the Sales and Marketing teams in the articulation of International SOS’ services and in providing functional expertise in client facing forums such as webinars.
Requirements
Required Work Experience
•At least 5 years’ experience in delivering Security Operations or client Security Assistance delivery and planning, including deployed experience in hostile and/or challenging environments in military, NGO, government or private sector roles
•Experience in conducting profile/client specific security risk assessments.
•Strong Interest and knowledge of the political and security landscape
•Experience in successfully working cross culturally.
•Knowledge of the Intelligence Cycle and its application.
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills including ability to explain complex situations and advice to non-expert audiences in Japanese and English.
Preferred experience:
•Crisis management.
•Public speaking, client-facing presentation and/or media experience.
•Experience in business development and quality management.
•Security consulting and training delivery experience
Required Qualifications
•Educated to a degree level (or relevant professional training & experience) in a field related to security studies, war studies, international politics, international relations or similar
Required Languages
•Excellent written and spoken English
•Native/fluent Japanese
