The Opportunity:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Security Task Lead to oversee and manage all security-related aspects of our critical IT projects for the Department of Defense, with work locations at several sites in the metropolitan Washington, D.C. area. This position is responsible for ensuring the implementation and maintenance of robust security measures across all project areas, encompassing both cybersecurity and physical security in compliance with DoD standards.

The position is contingent upon award of the Office of the Department of Defense (DoD) Chief Information Officer (CIO) DCIO for Information Enterprise (IE) and Special Access Program Information Technology (SAP IT) Support Services Task Order.

The Security Task Lead plays a vital role in safeguarding our IT systems, physical assets, and personnel while ensuring compliance with DoD security requirements. This position demands a security expert with strong leadership skills, a comprehensive understanding of both cyber and physical security frameworks, and the ability to adapt to evolving threats across all security domains.

Responsibilities:

The Security Task Lead’s responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Lead and manage the security team, ensuring the development and implementation of comprehensive security plans and procedures.

  • Ensure compliance with DoD cybersecurity policies, including the Risk Management Framework (RMF) and NIST guidelines

  • Manage the Certification and Accreditation (C&A) process for all relevant systems

  • Oversee physical security measures, including access control systems, surveillance, and security personnel management

  • Conduct and oversee vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and security audits for both cyber and physical security

  • Develop and implement security awareness training programs covering both cyber and physical security for all personnel

  • Manage incident response processes for both cyber incidents and physical security breaches

  • Coordinate with facilities management to ensure proper implementation of physical security measures

  • Liaise with local law enforcement and federal agencies on security matters as needed

  • Ensure proper handling and storage of classified information and materials

  • Manage security clearance processes and maintain personnel security programs

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Must hold a current Top Secret clearance and be SCI eligible.

  • Bachelor’s degree in security management, Cybersecurity, or related field. Experience in lieu of education may be acceptable.

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in security management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within a DoD environment

  • In-depth knowledge of DoD security policies, NIST SP 800-53, and physical security standards

  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification

  • Strong understanding of both cybersecurity and physical security principles and best practices

  • Experience with security tools for both cyber and physical security management

  • Proficiency in conducting comprehensive risk assessments and developing mitigation strategies

  • Excellent project management and team leadership skills

Desired:

  • Master’s degree in security management or related field

  • Physical Security Professional (PSP) certification or equivalent 

  • Additional certifications such as Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or CISM

  • Experience integrating cyber and physical security systems

  • Knowledge of emerging technologies in both cyber and physical security domains

  • Familiarity with SCIF (Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility) requirements and management

  • Experience in developing and managing comprehensive security budgets

  • Background in crisis management and business continuity planning

Pay Range: There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. The proposed salary range for this position is:

$64,400 - $135,100
