Are you passionate about cybersecurity and eager to dive into the world of phishing simulation? Join our team as an intern and contribute to analysing phishing simulation data to uncover behavioural patterns and develop strategies to enhance anti-phishing education. Our office is located in Amsterdam and you’ll be working for 36 hours a week.

The team

The Red Team at ING plays a crucial role in safeguarding our systems by simulating advanced threats and identifying vulnerabilities. We protect people, technology, and processes. To keep staff resilient against phishing attacks, we also organise phishing simulation campaigns. As an intern, you’ll be part of a cross-department team that organises these phishing simulations in the most effective matter and with respect for our employees. Rather than luring colleagues into clicking, we wish to reward them for swift reporting.

Roles and responsibilities

Your days will be filled with exciting tasks:

  • Conduct research on the latest phishing threats and awareness concepts.
  • Collaborate with team members to analyse and interpret phishing simulation results on our sample of 200K+ emails.
  • Help implement improvements to our phishing simulation set-up or prepare an improvement plan based on analyzed results.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to brainstorming sessions.
  • Evaluate and improve our difficulty rating system, that aims to predict how successful a phishing scenario will be.

How to succeed

We hire smart people like you for your potential. Our biggest expectation is that you’ll stay curious. Keep learning. Take on responsibility. In return, we’ll back you to develop into an even more awesome version of yourself. We’re looking for a student who is:

  • Enrolled in a relevant degree program (e.g., Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Psychology) at a Dutch institution.
  • Well-versed in statistics.
  • Familiar with data analysis tools and methodologies.
  • An analytical thinker with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communicator and a team player.

Rewards and benefits

This is a great opportunity to train with highly skilled people who are experts in their field. You’ll do a lot and learn a lot – not only about your specialist area and the bank, but also about yourself and whether this type of environment is right for you.

You’ll also benefit from:

• Internship allowance of 700 EUR based on 36 hours work week

• Your own work laptop

• Hybrid working to blend home working for focus and office working for collaboration and co-creation

• Personal growth and challenging work with endless possibilities

• An informal working environment with innovative colleagues

During the duration of your internship at ING, it is mandatory to be enrolled at a Dutch university (or EU-university for EU passport holders).
