Position Summary
The Workday Security Engineer is responsible for managing and implementing security protocols for the state’s Human Resource Information System (HRIS), Workday. This role will involve configuring and maintaining user access, security roles, permissions, and ensuring that the Workday environment is secure and compliant with state and federal regulations. This position will work closely with business stakeholders, Workday functional teams, and IT teams to deliver a secure and efficient Workday environment for the State of Oklahoma.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain Workday security roles, user access, and permissions across Workday HCM modules.
- Develop and configure custom security roles based on business requirements, ensuring that security roles align with best practices and meet the needs of business users.
- Maintain user access provisioning, including adding, updating, and removing users based on business needs, department transfers, and organizational changes.
- Conduct regular security audits and reviews of the Workday environment to ensure adherence to internal security policies, state regulations, and compliance standards.
- Work closely with HR, IT, and other functional teams to identify and address security risks, ensure security requirements are met, and provide guidance on security best practices within Workday.
- Address and resolve security-related issues, access problems, and system errors related to Workday security configurations.
- Identify and implement security improvements, recommend changes to policies and procedures, and provide ongoing support for continuous improvement in security standards.
- Develop and maintain user guides, training materials, and documentation related to Workday security processes and configurations.
- Respond to security incidents and assist in the investigation of any potential security breaches or vulnerabilities within the Workday system.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
This position works in a comfortable office setting with a computer for a large percentage of the workday. The noise level in the work environment is usually mild. Occasional travel may be required.
Minimum Qualifications
Requirements include a bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, business administration, or a related field and at least 3 years of experience working in Workday security administration or configuration.
Preference will be given to candidates who possess
- Solid understanding of Workday security framework and modules.
- Experience with creating and managing security roles, business process security, and configuring security policies in Workday.
- Knowledge of access control management, data security, and regulatory compliance standards.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills, with the ability to resolve complex security issues.
- Ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical teams effectively.
- Ability to apply Agile project management practices and principles to work assignments.
- Experience with identity management solutions and single sign-on (SSO) configurations.
- Familiarity with state or government regulations related to IT security and compliance.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
