Responsibilities

What You’ll Do:

  • Architect Next-Generation Solutions – Design and implement comprehensive SOA solutions that deliver robust, scalable, and secure system architectures.
  • Develop Mission-Ready Architectures – Create operational, technical standards, and system views that align with DoDAF standards, ensuring seamless integration and interoperability.
  • Optimize Performance & Efficiency – Conduct end-to-end system trade analyses to balance system performance, cost, and lifecycle considerations—ensuring peak efficiency.
  • Leverage Cutting-Edge Technology – Utilize validated models, simulations, and prototyping to mitigate risks and reduce development costs.
  • Ensure System Integrity & Evolution – Maintain stringent configuration control for hardware, software, and documentation to guarantee reliability throughout the system lifecycle.
  • Drive Smart Decision-Making – Participate in Change Control Boards (CCB) and develop strategic alternatives that prioritize cost-effectiveness, system expansion, and risk management.
  • Master Risk & Performance Optimization – Develop contingency plans and monitor risks using earned value management (EVM) data to stay ahead of challenges.
  • Set the Standard in Engineering Excellence – Stay at the forefront of evolving agency, national, and international standards, ensuring compliance and interoperability across platforms.
  • Lead Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) – Assess and recommend best-fit solutions, weighing key factors like technology limitations, environmental impact, and lifecycle costs.
  • Guide Complex System Integration – Provide expert technical direction for the development, engineering, and testing of hardware/software components—leading efforts from concept to execution.
  • Refine & Improve Integration Strategies – Implement best practices for seamless system integration, leveraging lessons learned to enhance future performance.
  • Define Interfaces with Precision – Ensure software, electrical, and mechanical interfaces are fully documented and optimized for performance and interoperability.
 

Qualifications

Must Have:

  • Twenty (20) years experience as a SE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type and complexity is required. Demonstrated experience in planning and leading Systems Engineering efforts is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required. Five (5) years of additional SE experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
  • DoD 8570 compliance with IAT Level I or higher is required.
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance with a current polygraph is required.

 

Desired:

  • Proven experience in defining and developing system performance, availability, scalability, manageability, and security requirements for mid-to-large-scale programs.
  • Expertise in creating technical documentation for troubleshooting, issue resolution, and training purposes.
  • Strong background in leading Agile and Spiral development models, driving iterative and efficient project execution.
  • Skilled in designing and implementing integrated solutions that extend and enhance COTS products for complex system environments.
  • Extensive experience in integrating COTS and GOTS products from multiple vendors, ensuring seamless interoperability.
  • Deep knowledge of distributed storage architectures, including routing and querying algorithm development.
  • Hands-on experience in implementing storage area networks (SANs), data warehouses, and data marts, optimizing data accessibility and management.
  • Expertise in storage optimization strategies, including retrieval, backup, and retention across globally distributed, high-throughput multimedia and text-based storage systems.
  • Experience developing and deploying scalable storage solutions within clustered and cloud environments.
  • Strong ability to collaborate with users and cross-functional Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), ensuring alignment with mission goals.
  • Skilled in designing and integrating secure, compliant solutions in adherence to legal, policy, and regulatory requirements.
  • In-depth knowledge of HDFS, Hadoop, and Big Table-based technologies such as HBase and Accumulo, with experience working on large-scale distributed systems.

Target Salary Range

$190,000 - $304,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
