The job

The Director for Human Centric Security is a leader of the global security team whose primary role is to lead the development and continual improvement of Human Risk, Global Travel and Events, VIP Support, Physical Security and Access Control services.  The role involves balancing and maintaining the security of AVEVA’s safety and security of AVEVA colleagues, guests, assets and buildings globally, driving the implementation of insider threat capabilities, site-specific directives, supporting VIPs, travel and events. This role demands consultancy skills with experience of engaging with senior executives on key aspects of Human Risk Security, ensuring key messages are communicated with business context.  This role also requires travelling globally and work flexible hours as needed to support the business.  While the position sits within AVEVA, it will require collaboration with relevant functions in RIB and ETAP which are operational units within Schneider Electric.

Key responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain the overarching Human Centric Security strategy, including compliance monitoring and enforcement.
  • Lead, develop, improve and deliver the Human Centric services: Insider Threat, VIP Support, Human Risk, Travel and Events, Physical Site Protection, Access Control, Monitoring and Response, Security Site Inspections, Security Investigations and Workplace Violence.
  • Develop, embed and execute comprehensive security strategies, policies, and procedures to mitigate risks and protect AVEVA's people, assets, and reputation.
  • Drive the implementation of insider threat capabilities to identify and address potential security breaches or malicious activities.
  • Management of Human Centric Security operations across all of AVEVA’s regions, with a strong focus on Physical Security Operations and Access Controls.  Collaborate with site leadership to develop and enforce site-specific security directives tailored to local needs and regulations.
  • Provide VIP support, including the coordination of secure travel, event planning, and personal protection as required.
  • Oversee the management of physical security measures, such as access control systems, surveillance, and emergency response procedures.
  • Lead and provide expert leadership with global physical security incidents and investigations (People, Buildings or Asset related) ensuring prompt effective resolution.
  • Responsible for leading and delivering cross functional Security initiatives related to people development.
  • Analyse security data and intelligence to identify trends, assess risks, and recommend proactive measures to enhance the overall security posture.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, providing physical security-related guidance and recommendations to support business objectives.
  • Ensure the security team operates within budget and resource constraints, optimizing efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key external stakeholders, including Schneider Electric ecosystem, subject matter experts, organisations, and suppliers, law enforcement, government agencies, and industry partners to facilitate information sharing around improving physical security and resilience.
  • Prepare and present reports on Human Centric Security matters to senior leadership.
  • Lead, motivate, and mentor direct-reports, including communicating clear expectations, setting performance objectives, providing regular and timely constructive feedback, ensuring balanced workload, providing guidance on professional growth.
  • Ensure all services are documented with SOPs/Playbooks and KPIs, to report on performance and delivering continuous improvement.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential

  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in security management, with a proven track record of leading global security teams.
  • Extensive knowledge of physical security and risk management, ideally in the context of an international organisation experience in high risk and complex operating environments.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and inter-personal skills
  • The role requires a high level of integrity and discretion where you will need to create and maintain relationships based on trust.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse and cross-cultural teams to achieve common objectives.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse geographically distributed team.
  • Experienced in developing and implementing Human Cenrtric Security policies.

Desired

  • A professional certification in security, such as PSP, CITP, CISSP, CISA, CISM or equivalent.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as security management, criminal justice, or information technology. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing and implementing comprehensive security strategies, policies, and procedures.
  • Experience in risk assessment and the design and implementation of security solutions.
  • Good understanding of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards pertaining to security and compliance.
  • Proficient in data analysis and reporting.

Hybrid working
