We are currently hiring an IS Security Architect based in our Head Office.

Please note that this is a hybrid role based out of our Burnaby, BC office (3 Remote / 2 On Site). Applicants who are not located within commuting distance of our Head Office or are not looking to relocate to the Greater Vancouver/Lower Mainland/Fraser Valley region will not be considered. 

As an IS Security Architect you will provide strategic level technical planning, design and architecture experience working with the business and IS teams to ensure the protection of BCAA assets and operations. You will also have strong hands on ability to act as a point of escalation for members of the security team and organization.

What you’ll do

  • Develop, document and maintain an enterprise security architecture framework, ensuring it aligns with business objectives and industry standards.

  • Conduct security risk assessments resulting in documented findings to either eliminate or mitigate risk.

  • Collaborate with the other IT groups to ensure hardening configurations are implemented for brand new and existing platforms and applications based on CIS.

  • Review technologies in cross-functional groups to protect the organization and enhance BCAA’s digital operational capabilities.

  • Provide technical leadership and collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate security requirements into the software development lifecycle.

  • Ensure recommended solutions comply with PCI-DSS and NIST standards.

  • Lead the design and evaluation of network architectures, applications, and cloud-based environments.

  • Investigate security incidents and collaborate on post-incident reviews, offering recommendations for remediation and prevention.

  • Ensure the security practices fit within business goals as well as the cybersecurity roadmap.

  • Research and evaluate emerging technologies to identify innovative solutions to enhance BCAA’s security posture.

What you bring

  • CISSP, Undergraduate in Computer Science, Applicable Certifications or Diploma.

  • 10+ years of working in a security-focused role with a minimum of 2 years of architectural experience.

  • Knowledge of system design and architectural frameworks such as TOGAF, SABSA, ESA is a plus.

  • Experience in multiple technologies used to protect all layers of an organization.

  • Hands-on experience with static and dynamic code analysis tools.

  • Extensive experience in implementing defense in depth strategies to safeguard organizations.

  • Expert in Incident Response best practices.

  • Proven experience in DevOps/DevSecOps, collaborating with development teams within an Agile framework.

  • Proficiency in cloud network engineering and architecture.

  • Proven excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and with other team members.

  • Ability to create systems and consistent procedures and processes in both technical and user-friendly language.

  • Proven ability to be proactive when dealing with issues and challenges.

  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.

  • Excellent multi-taking and organizational skills.

The salary range for this position is $129,630.36 to $162,037.92 and is determined via job-related knowledge, skills, experience, certifications, market demand and internal equity. In addition to base salary and BCAA benefits, this position is eligible for a performance bonus target of 9%, with the opportunity to earn up to 15%.
