This District Temp Part Time Student Intern position will receive training and gain practical business application, report and workflow development experience through training, mentoring, and performing assignments. The intern will work closely with our team and help to prevent and detect weaknesses that may impact Metropolitan’s confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
The student intern will monitor and respond to security alerts, identity incoming security incidents, monitor active dashboards and reply and interpret events and incidents, identify compromised systems/users and follow up appropriately with system administrators, review vulnerability reports and work with the responsible parties on remediation respond to and research reports of phishing incidents, respond to and assist with customer requests via our ticketing system, and perform other related business application duties as required.
Working in the CSOC will help students gain real-world experience and knowledge for a career in Cybersecurity.
Schedule: (PART TIME) 44/36, Monday through Friday with every other Friday off. (Position Terms on 12/31/2025).
WORK SCHEDULE:• Full-time (during summer break) and/or Part-time (up to 18 hours per week)• The estimated length of the assignment will range from three to twelve months. Dates are flexible.• The length of the term will be determined based on the student's class schedule, availability, and employer needs.
Hybrid: Metropolitan’s current practice in this position is a hybrid work schedule. This typically includes two days a week in person and the other days remote. This is subject to change dependent on organizational needs. In addition, a telework policy is scheduled for negotiations and once completed and implemented, will provide final direction on the hybrid schedule.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: Current enrollment in an accredited four-year college or university carrying a minimum of 12 semester units or 8 quarter units with junior or senior standing in a related major and maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.75 or higher on a 4.0 scale, or current enrollment in an accredited graduate degree program in a related major with a grade point average of 2.75 or higher.
Related major is defined as: Computer Science or Computer Engineering
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
License(s): Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.
