RTX BBN Technologies (BBN) is seeking a passionate and skilled Cyberspace Capability Developer to contribute to the research and development of next-generation capabilities in the cyber and electromagnetic warfare (EW) domain. This role spans a range of exciting and impactful projects, fromexploit, implant, and payload development to software integration for mission-critical systems.

BBN solves challenging Cyber/EW type problems of high importance to our customers in the Department of Defense, the Intelligence Community, and Industry. Our team specializes in developing cutting-edge technologies by combining a fundamental understanding of cyber-physical systems with facilities to conduct advanced research and development via modeling, simulation, experimentation, test, and analysis.

What You Will Do

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Analyze systems to understand how they work and what happens when they break.
  • Disassemble and analyze binary code.
  • Develop exploits, implants, payloads, and communication stacks based on extensive reverse engineering, vulnerability analysis, and software development.
  • Develop unique networking protocols and communication schemes.
  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to solve challenging problems and deliver actionable results.
  • Operationalize software through extensive testing, documentation, and integration with other systems.
  • Participate in laboratory and field tests to collect and analyze data, test new capabilities, and perform demonstrations
  • Overnight travel required for certain projects.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • A BS degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, or relevant field plus 5 years of relevant experience, or MS plus 3 years, or PhD. Experience in lieu of degree will be considered.
  • Solid, creative programming skills using one or more of: C/C++ or Python.
  • Experience with some assembly language (x86/64, ARM, PPC, MIPS, etc.).
  • Vulnerability research experience.
  • Reverse engineering skills using a tool such as IDA/Ghidra/BinaryNinja.
  • Understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, wire-level protocols, BGP, RF communications, etc.).
  • Top Secret clearance required day one with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance.

 Qualifications We Prefer

  • Capture the Flag (CTF) experience
  • OS kernel development experience (e.g., Windows, Linux, MacOS, Android).
  • Network programming skills.
  • Hardware emulation experience.
  • Working knowledge of RF signal processing and algorithm development
  • Hands on experience with system architecture design, prototyping, and technical project leadership.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance

The salary range for this role is 90,000 USD - 182,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
