Sentar is seeking a Senior Cybersecurity Engineer

Role Description:

  • The Senior Cybersecurity Engineer will provide critical support to USSTRATCOM/J61 in securing and protecting mission-critical systems supporting Nuclear Command and Control (NC3), Cyber, Electromagnetic Spectrum Management, and Missile Defense. This role ensures compliance with DoD cybersecurity policies, strengthens Zero Trust architecture, and enhances security postures for C4-IT environments.
  • Design, implement, and maintain enterprise-wide cybersecurity solutions aligned with DoD security policies.
  • Conduct Risk Management Framework (RMF) assessments to ensure compliance with NIST 800-53D and DoD cybersecurity regulations.
  • Support the implementation of Zero Trust architectures, including network micro-segmentation, security automation, and Identity & Access Management (IAM).
  • Perform cyber threat intelligence analysis, vulnerability assessments, and penetration testing.
  • Support incident response, forensic investigations, and mitigation strategies for cybersecurity incidents.
  • Conduct security reviews of cloud-based and on-premise architectures for classified and unclassified environments.
  • Work with system engineers, network teams, and DevSecOps personnel to harden security configurations and automate security controls.
  • Develop security policies, compliance reports, and risk analysis documentation.

Qualifications: DoD 8140/8570 Compliance Certification (e.g., Security+, CASP+, CISSP, CCSP)

Clearance Level: Top Secret with SCI eligibility

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. Master’s degree may substitute for three (3) years of experience

Experience:

  • 8+ years of experience in cybersecurity engineering, risk management, and security compliance.
  • Strong expertise in NIST 800-53D security controls, Risk Management Framework (RMF), and DoD cybersecurity standards.
  • Hands-on experience with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tools.
  • Familiarity with Zero Trust principles, cross-domain solutions, and classified network security.
  • Knowledge of cloud security (AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, and DoD-approved cloud platforms).
  • Strong scripting and automation skills with tools like Ansible, PowerShell, or Python.
  • Experience with network security, firewall configurations, and endpoint protection tools.
  • Ability to develop cyber risk reports, security impact assessments, and compliance documentation.
