Security Captain - Central State Hospital

Job Description:

Central State Hospital is seeking a Captain for the Security Department. This position primarily works Monday-Friday, day-shift.

Job duties include but are not limited to:

• Coordinates and supervises the Security Department of the hospital.
• Creates work schedules for all security staff
• Reviews security applications electronically for staffing needs of all shifts 
• Collaborates with Risk Management and Human Resources in the hiring process for staff
• Collaborates with Sergeants in documenting employee performance and evaluations, assessing and ensuring training needs of staff
• Monitors the Security Department time and attendance along with personnel-related matters
• Monitors internal/external hospital grounds physically and through electronic surveillance cameras
• Responds and assists with hospital codes and emergencies
• Serves on committees and teams as assigned
• Ensures documentation and reports are completed and accurate
• Assesses training needs of assigned new and current staff and provides and or schedules necessary training for those security staff on security equipment, procedures department policy and documentation
• Participates in hospital-wide training, education and surveillance activities for regulatory standards of different organizations such as Joint Commission.
• On call and other duties as assigned

  

Required Qualifications:

• High school graduate required, Associates or Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• Must have three years of experience in behavioral health or rehabilitation settings
• Prior supervisory experience required.
