Sentar is seeking a SR Network Engineer!

Role Description:

The Senior Network Engineer will support USSTRATCOM/J61 by designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise-level network infrastructure solutions critical to Nuclear Command and Control (NC3), Cyber, Electromagnetic Spectrum Management, and Missile Defense. This role will ensure high availability, security, and performance of USSTRATCOM’s C4-IT infrastructure.

  • Design, implement, and maintain enterprise network solutions supporting USSTRATCOM’s operational mission.
  • Develop and support software-defined networking (SDN) capabilities to enhance security and performance.
  • Deploy and sustain modern hardware and network security solutions, including firewalls, proxies, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and network taps.
  • Implement network automation and monitoring tools to improve efficiency and resilience.
  • Ensure compliance with DoD cybersecurity and network architecture standards.
  • Manage IP Address Management (IPAM) systems and oversee network segmentation strategies.
  • Conduct network performance analysis, troubleshooting, and capacity planning.
  • Lead network hardening efforts by implementing Zero Trust and least privilege access controls.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to integrate network security controls and support incident response efforts.
  • Provide technical oversight and documentation, including network diagrams, risk assessments, and operational plans.

Qualifications:

Clearance Level: Top Secret with SCI eligibility

Certifications: DoD 8140/8570 Compliance Certification (e.g., Security+, CASP+, CISSP) and Networking certification

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Network Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. Master’s degree may substitute for three (3) years of experience

Experience:

  • 8+ years of experience in enterprise network engineering, including design, implementation, and troubleshooting.
  • Expertise in modern networking architectures, including IPv6, software-defined networking (SDN), and cloud networking.
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco, Juniper, or equivalent enterprise network solutions.
  • Strong understanding of network security principles, firewall management, and Zero Trust architectures.
  • Experience with network automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Python, Terraform).
  • Ability to develop and maintain detailed network documentation, including topology maps and technical assessments.
  • Proficiency in load balancing, VPN solutions, network segmentation, and high-availability networking.
  • Familiarity with classified and unclassified DoD network environments, including DISN, SIPRNet, and NIPRNet.
  • Experience integrating network monitoring solutions (e.g., SolarWinds, Splunk, ELK Stack).
