The objective of this internship is to provide exposure and experience to the various functions and responsibilities within the Engagement Solutions Information Security team. The intern will engage in hands-on learning and contribute to key areas of information security, gaining advanced knowledge and practical experience in vulnerability management, risk management, compliance, and secure architecture. This program aims to equip the intern with a well-rounded understanding of the information security landscape for the ES Business Unit, fostering the development of essential skills needed for a successful career in cybersecurity.

The Maritz Internship program is a 10 -12-week experience, so candidates/students need to be available to work full time hours throughout the duration of the summer.

In addition to getting some real-world experience, our Maritz intern program also includes lunch & learns with various departments, executive/leadership meet and greets, teambuilding with the cohort, intern events, career support resources, etc.

Position will work 40 hours a week, M - F daytime hours, working on site at our Fenton location at least 3 days a week.

Relocation is not provided.

1. Vulnerability Management

This category appropriately groups activities focused on identifying and mitigating security weaknesses:

  • Web Application Security Scans: Targets web-application-specific threats.

  • Server/VM Scans: Assesses the security of servers and virtual machines for vulnerabilities.

  • Image Scans: Involves scanning container images for known vulnerabilities.

  • Cloud Security (Misconfigurations): Specifically focused on cloud configuration reviews to identify and fix misconfigurations.

2. Risk Management

This focuses on evaluating and mitigating risks to the organization:

  • Vendor Management: Ensures third-party vendors comply with Maritz and industry-standard security standards.

  • BCP/DR (Business Continuity Planning/Disaster Recovery): Critical for risk mitigation and ensuring business resilience.

3. Compliance

Focused on ensuring adherence to regulatory and contractual obligations:

  • Contract Reviews: Security review of contracts for compliance and risk.

  • Audits - PCI/SOC 1/SOC 2: Relevant to compliance frameworks and certifications.

  • Client Questionnaires: Common in compliance to address client security concerns.

4. Secure Architecture

This category focuses on designing secure systems and infrastructure:

  • Secure Use Cases: Involves designing secure implementations.

  • General DevSecOps exposure: Will include the intern in common collaborative scenarios with the DevOps team to gain experience in common security appdev troubleshoots

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science. Major focus IT security is a plus.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Excellent communication and Interpersonal skills

  • Ability work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.

  • Self-motivated and eager to learn.

  • Interns must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 or above.

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program with a completion of 60 credit hours, or currently enrolled in a master's degree/PHD program. Interns that are graduating in May or August do not qualify. Students must be enrolled and returning to their university or college in the fall.

  • Must be able to work in the US without any current or future visa/ sponsorship requirements.
