TITLE:  IT Security Engineer (Internship)

DEPARTMENT:  Information Security

REPORTING TO:  Compliance & Governance Manager

OFFICE LOCATION:  Madrid

DURATION: June 2nd, 2025, until August 29th, 2025

What does the internship program entail? 

You will participate in a variety of programs including but not limited to wellness initiatives, team building activities, networking events, and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) initiatives. These experiences will help you develop both personally and professionally.

As an IT Security Engineer Intern, you’ll spend the summer with our InfoSec Team, working with dedicated and experienced colleagues to find solutions for clients. You’ll become a member of a specific group, working on real assignments and making a genuine impact on our business. You may:  

-    Support the InfoSec team in cybersecurity tasks
-    Utilize systems, tools, and procedures related to Security Analysis, Incident Response, Vulnerability Management, and Penetration testing.
-    Use endpoint detection and response (EDR) and SIEM tools to detect and mitigate threats in accordance to the standards, internal policies and procedures.
-    Support in the maintenance of the ISMS (Information Security Management System)
-    Other tasks as assigned by your line manager

Essential Skills and Experience to be Successful in the Role: 

  • Recent graduate or be in your last year of a bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in Computer Science, or related field
  • Excellent English language skills, both written and spoken
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities, with focus on details
  • Comfortable navigating through ambiguous and ever-changing situations
  • Knowledge of the performance Security Audits and Assessments
  • Knowledge of systems, tools and methods used in Vulnerability Management and Penetration Testing: Nessus, NMAP
  • Knowledge Scripting knowledge in Python and PowerShell a plus
  • Knowledge of Internet (TCP/IP) Network practices and concepts
  • Knowledge of Security concepts (i.e. architecture, models, management, practices)
  • Knowledge of Linux/Unix and Windows environments
  • Customer interfacing skills

Additional Information:

We spend around 60% of our time in the office and around 40% of our time working remotely. Some individuals may be required to work from the office or client sites more than 60% of the time, if required by their role and/or client needs.  

Your precise work schedule will be determined by you, your Line Manager and HR before commencement of your internship program with IPC.
