The Digital Modernization Sector brings together our digital transformation and IT programs, allowing us to better serve our customers through scale and repeatability. Leidos has a critical need for a COMSEC Analyst to support the Customs and Border SOC.

 We are seeking a talented and motivated COMSEC Analyst to join our team supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Security Operations Center (SOC).  The DHS/CBP SOC is a US Government program responsible to prevent, identify, contain and eradicate cyber threats to CBP networks through monitoring, intrusion detection and protective security services to CBP information systems including local area networks/wide area networks (LAN/WAN), commercial Internet connection, public facing websites, wireless, mobile/cellular, cloud, security devices, servers and workstations.  The CBP SOC is responsible for the overall security of CBP Enterprise-wide information systems, and collects, investigates, and reports any suspected and confirmed security violations. 

 

 Primary Responsibilities 

As a COMSEC Custodian, your duties will include: 

  • Adhering to and ensuring user compliance with the customer’s COMSEC policies and procedures. 

  • Configuring and installing crypto hardware, troubleshooting issues as they arise, and providing quick resolutions to minimize user downtime. 

  • Maintaining the health and functionality of crypto devices in operation, minimizing downtime during maintenance periods. 

  • Protecting and maintaining keying and other COMSEC materials, updating keying material according to customer-designated timeframes. 

  • Documenting and tracking all devices and materials across multiple accounts and systems. 

  • Demonstrating accountability for all devices and materials during yearly audits. 

  • Providing COMSEC Custodian training to teammates and stakeholders. 

  • Coordinating with customers, teammates, and users to maintain compliance with security standards and deployment schedules. 

  • Collaborating with and supporting the customer on technical matters related to the organization’s overall mission. 

 

Basic Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree with 4-8 years of relevant experience, or Master's degree with less than 2 years of relevant experience. Additional years of experience may be used in lieu of degree. 

  • Knowledge of current crypto devices/methods and COMSEC principles and practices. 

  • Ability to implement processes and maintain administrative documentation. 

  • Basic understanding of network transport devices attached to encryption devices (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls). 

  • Basic understanding of information security practices and devices. 

  • Strong collaboration and customer service skills. 

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment. 

  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing situations. 

  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and in team environments. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience in network and network security design, including managing the design, installation, and support of LAN/WAN-based networks and security components such as routers, switches, firewalls, and datacenter equipment. 

  • Ability to solve complex engineering problems and implement innovative solutions to customer challenges. 

  • IT certifications such as A+, CCNA, CCNP, Security+, CISSP, etc. 

  • Prior experience with CBP.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $85,150.00 - $153,925.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
