About the Role

We are seeking a visionary Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to drive the technology strategy, digital innovation, and engineering excellence for AirAsia MOVE. This role will be instrumental in scaling our platforms, enhancing security, and leading a world-class tech team to deliver industry-leading travel experiences.

As CTO, you will oversee all technical aspects of the company, ensuring that products, platforms, and services are developed efficiently, securely, and in alignment with our business objectives. You will collaborate with cross-functional leaders to bridge technology and business, accelerating our digital transformation journey.

Key Responsibilities

1. Technology Strategy & Digital Transformation

• Define and execute a comprehensive technology roadmap aligned with business objectives.

• Oversee the scalability, security, and efficiency of AirAsia MOVE’s core platforms, including booking, payments, and customer experience systems.

• Drive cloud-native architectures, API-first development, and AI-driven innovation.

• Collaborate with executive leadership and business units to align technology investments with strategic goals.

2. Engineering Leadership & Innovation

• Lead high-performing software development, infrastructure, and security teams.

• Foster a culture of innovation, agility, and engineering excellence.

• Implement best-in-class DevOps, CI/CD, and cloud infrastructure to enhance efficiency.

• Accelerate the adoption of AI, automation, and predictive analytics to improve the user experience.

3. Risk & Compliance

• Strengthen fraud detection and transaction security across MOVE’s payment systems.

• Establish robust disaster recovery and business continuity plans.

4. Cloud, Infrastructure & Data Management

• Lead a multi-cloud strategy (GCP, Azure, Alibaba) for cost efficiency and performance optimization.

• Implement real-time monitoring and AI-powered anomaly detection for system health.

• Ensure seamless integrations of OTA, Fintech, Loyalty, and Community services.

• Enhance data analytics, governance, and AI-driven decision-making.

5. Operational Excellence & Business Alignment

• Optimize IT budgets, technology spend, and resource allocation.

• Oversee SRE (Site Reliability Engineering) teams to drive uptime, reliability, and efficiency.

• Partner with Product, Marketing, and Customer Experience teams to enhance the traveler journey.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• 15+ years of experience in technology leadership, with at least 5 years as a CTO, CIO, or VP of Engineering.

• Proven track record scaling high-traffic platforms in OTA, e-commerce, fintech, or travel tech.

• Strong expertise in cloud-native development, cybersecurity, and microservices architectures.

• Experience in AI, automation, and data-driven personalization.

• Deep knowledge of regulatory frameworks, compliance, and IT governance.

• Ability to align technology initiatives with business objectives and drive cross-functional collaboration.

• Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder management skills and learning agility.

• Passion for building and mentoring high-performing tech teams.

Preferred

• Prior experience in large-scale travel, airline, fintech, or e-commerce platforms.

• Expertise in AI/ML, blockchain, or emerging Web3 technologies.

• Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, AWS/GCP Solutions Architect, or ITIL.
