The Opportunity:

We are seeking a highly skilled EUC Windows Specialist to join our team. This role will help the technical product manager in the responsibility for End User Computing and End Point Device Management (Laptops, PCs, Mobile devices) from both a support, delivery, and architectural perspective. The role will concentrate on having a good understanding of Windows to help support this area.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Work closely with the Technical Product Manager – End User Compute Services and the business to understand, input into and support our agreed device strategy to meet our end-user requirements.

  • Update and validate User Device personas and use these to build our ongoing device strategy (including VDI requirements), develop and improve device processes for the employee Lifecyle.

  • Ensure devices are used in a secure and controlled manner, defining our Device security strategy in conjunction with the Digital Workplace Team and Security Team.

  • Work closely with the Technical Product Manager – End User Compute Services for the management of our devices, work closely with Asset Management to design and implement improvements to our device lifecycle management to ensure we are able to manage and monitor devices until EOL.

  • Ensure that Application and OS update process and schedules for the devices are in place and agreed with the Security team. Work with our Service Operations to plan out major OS upgrades and patching to ensure our devices are also on supported versions.

  • Work closely with the GTS teams to implement platform and service improvement plans.

  • Support colleagues and the business to get the best out of their devices, ensuring devices are used in a secure and controlled manner, protecting company services and data. Actively promote and publish feature updates and relevant news via the GTS communications framework

Requirements:

You will have strong experience/knowledge with:

  • Windows desktop OS (90% of estate)
  • End user device (Mobile, Laptops) security, config & management
  • Office365 and other core productivity applications.
  • Windows Deployment Services (WDS)
  • MDM services - Intune (including Autopilot)

Experience/knowledge with one or more of the following technologies would be desirable but not essential:

  • iOS and Android OS management
  • MacOS (10% of estate) management
  • End user device (Macs, Tablets etc) security, config & management
  • MDM services - Jamf

  • Asset and configuration management. You can maintain secure configuration and accurate information, controlling IT assets in one or more significant areas, and verifying location and state of assets. (Relevant skill level: working)
  • Change management. You can deal with high-impact, complex change requests. You know how to ensure that release policies, procedures and processes are applied. (Relevant skill level: working)
  • Continual service improvement. You can identify process optimisation opportunities with guidance and contribute to the implementation of proposed solutions. (Relevant skill level: working)
  • Incident management. You can lead the investigation and resolution of incidents. (Relevant skill level: working)
  • Ownership and initiative. You can take accountability of issues that occur and be proactive in searching for potential problems. You know how to achieve excellent user outcomes. (Relevant skill level: practitioner)
  • Problem management. You can initiate and monitor actions to investigate patterns and trends to resolve problems, including consulting specialists where required. You can determine the appropriate remedy and assist with implementation of it as well as preventative measures. (Relevant skill level: working)
  • Service Management Framework knowledge. You have a Level 3 Service Management Framework qualification and knowledge of life-cycle and / or capability elements of ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library). (Relevant skill level: working)
  • Service focus. You can take inputs and establish coherent frameworks that work. (Relevant skill level: working)
  • Service reporting. You can produce relevant reports in a standard format in an agreed timeframe. You can work with important stakeholders to discuss any changes in the reporting processes. You can add a commentary that provides an interpretation for the data set. (Relevant skill level: working)
  • Technical specialism. You know how to draft and maintain procedures and documentation. You can set standards for definition, security and integrity of objects and ensure conformance to these standards. (Relevant skill level: practitioner)
  • Technical understanding. You understand core technical concepts related to the role and can apply them with guidance. (Relevant skill level: working)
  • Testing. You can manage planning of system and/or acceptance tests, coordinating both functional and non-functional specifications. You can provide authoritative advice and guidance on test planning and can identify the process improvements and contribute to definition of best practice. (Relevant skill level: practitioner)
  • User focus. You know how to collaborate with user researchers and can represent users internally. You understand the difference between user needs and the desires of the user. You can champion user research to focus on all users. You can prioritise and define approaches to understand the user story, guiding others in doing so. You can offer recommendations on the best tools and methods to be used. (Relevant skill level: practitioner)
