Please note that this position offers a hybrid work schedule (i.e., blend of working onsite and remote) after completing probation (six months).
Our Operational Technology (OT) Cybersecurity team designs and implements cybersecurity solutions for OT environments to help defend our community's most critical infrastructure against cyber threats while ensuring reliable and safe utility services. We are hiring a Cybersecurity Engineer to design, implement, operate, and maintain cybersecurity solutions and technologies. You will join a high-performing team of cybersecurity professionals in supporting all aspects of our OT cybersecurity program, including security tool administration, monitoring, alerting, auditing, outreach, and incident response.
What Else Will You be Doing?
- Evaluating risk and developing cybersecurity solutions in support of projects for OT areas
- Designing, installing, and maintaining cybersecurity hardware and software solutions related to network monitoring, security appliances, and operational technologies
- Providing support for regulatory and compliance efforts by designing compliant security solutions, conducting and supporting audits, and maintaining evidence
- Engaging in proactive threat hunting and managing vulnerabilities in OT systems
- Managing routine cybersecurity events and minor incidents
- Participating in the Cybersecurity Incident Response Team, which requires being on-call and potential activation outside of normal working hours for major incidents
- Providing cybersecurity risk management consulting and advice to organizational leadership and asset owners
- Developing and providing cybersecurity training and outreach to OT areas
Please note that this position requires participation in the Cybersecurity Incident Response Team which may require activation outside of normal working hours. Additionally, this job requires working approximately 20% of the time in industrial and field environments that may require extended time standing, bending, lifting, and working in adverse temperatures.
Who You Are
- Demonstrated cybersecurity engineering experience, preferably within an OT environment (e.g., Industrial Control Systems, SCADA, Building Automation Systems, etc.) is valued
- Training will be provided to the successful candidate who possesses qualified IT cybersecurity experience
- Knowledge of and experience with OT systems, vendors, network architectures, technologies, cybersecurity monitoring, and/or evaluation tools is valued
- Bachelor's Degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Control Systems, or a related field is valued
- Certifications in any of the following are valued:
- CompTIA Security+
- Network+
- ISC2 Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
- SANS Global Industrial Cyber Security Professional (GICSP)
- International Society of Automation (ISA)/International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) 62443
- Ability to build relationships in an industrial work environment and effectively communicate complex cybersecurity concepts to non-cybersecurity or IT backgrounds
- Possession of a valid, unrestricted driver's license is required - this job requires operating Colorado Springs Utilities' vehicles to visit field sites to perform work
