To develop, implement and maintain solutions that support the safeguarding of the banks systems and sensitive information.
Accountabilities
- Provision of subject matter expertise on security systems and engineering patterns.
- Development and implementation of protocols, algorithms, and software applications to protect sensitive data and systems.
- Management and protection of secrets, ensuring that they are securely generated, stored, and used.
- Execution of audits to monitor, identify and assess vulnerabilities in the banks infrastructure/software and support the response to potential security breaches.
- Identification of advancements in to support the innovation and adoption of new cryptographic technologies and techniques.
- Collaboration across the bank, including developers and security teams, to ensure that cryptographic solutions align with business objectives, security policies and regulatory requirements.
- Development/ Implementation and maintenance of Identity and Access Management solutions and systems.

In this role, you will be a critical member of Barclays Cyber Fraud and Financial Crime Fusion Center, working on unique technical and data challenges to protect our customers, clients, and Barclays itself. The Cyber Fraud Engineering team designs and develops unique tools, automated processes, and system that improve Barclays capabilities to detect, alert, and disrupt Cyber and Fraud attacks and Financial Crimes.
To be successful as a Cyber Fraud Research and Development Senior Engineer, you should have experience with:
- Skilled in development and coding, including Python, JavaScript, and/or Perl
- Proficient in relational data concepts, datasets, and databases like Oracle, Postgres, MS SQL, etc
- Knowledgeable in non-relational data concepts and databases, including Hadoop, Document Stores (e.g., MongoDB, OpenSearch)
- Familiar with development tools and concepts such as CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and Kubernetes
Some other highly valued skills may include:
- Experience or familiarity with ETL process and Spark are preferred
- Direct experience with Cyber, Fraud, and/or Financial Crimes tools and processes
- Experience in Banking or other Risk-oriented companies or related markets
