Role Overview:
As a Security Engineer at Oracle Cloud Security, you will be responsible for addressing complex security challenges within OCI’s distributed services and virtual infrastructure. You will play a key role in building, securing, and innovating new cloud services, directly impacting the security of OCI’s offerings and the protection of our customers’ data and operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design & Architecture: Lead the design, planning, and implementation of advanced security systems, applications, environments, and architectures. Ensure compliance with industry security standards and corporate policies throughout the security lifecycle.
- Incident Management: Participate in the incident management team, bringing advanced-level expertise to respond to security events. Investigate potential intrusions and breaches, lead root cause analysis, and oversee incident coordination across business units. In severe incidents, you may take on the role of Incident Commander.
- Security Guidance: Provide technical direction to design and develop secure architectures. Conduct risk assessments, threat modeling, and vulnerability analysis of existing and proposed technical architectures, recommending the best security controls to mitigate risks.
- Security Operations: Develop and enhance security playbooks, tools, and scripts to proactively address vulnerabilities. Participate in security event investigations and collaborate with senior management to define long-term security strategies.
- Leadership & Training: Mentor and guide junior security engineers, providing counsel on both operational and strategic tasks. Lead efforts to research, evaluate, and track emerging security threats and vulnerabilities, while equipping team members with the tools and knowledge to stay ahead of potential risks.
- Collaboration: Foster strong collaboration with cross-functional teams, ensuring security is integrated at every level of the cloud infrastructure. Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure security measures are understood and followed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in security engineering or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Strong programming skills in Python, R, or Java.
- Specialized expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Service Architecture and Design Patterns
- Defensive Security
- Offensive Security
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively across teams and communicate security risks and solutions to technical and business stakeholders.
- Advanced experience with developing secure systems and troubleshooting security issues in complex environments.
Must have Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field
- 5+ years of experience in security engineering or related field or equivalent experience
- Strong security experience, particularly with focus in one of the following areas:
- Service architecture and Design Patterns
- Defensive Security
- Offensive Security
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
Certain US customer or client-facing roles may be required to comply with applicable requirements, such as immunization and occupational health mandates.
Range and benefit information provided in this posting are specific to the stated locations only
US: Hiring Range in USD from: $109,200 to $223,400 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.
Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

8. Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.

10. Paid sick leave: 72 hours of paid sick leave upon date of hire. Refreshes each calendar year. Unused balance will carry over each year up to a maximum cap of 112 hours.
