Summary  

This Cybersecurity Specialist position is non-remote. The successful candidate will be required to work from the CAE facility.  The candidate must have knowledge of US Government cybersecurity regulations to plan, document, and implement cybersecurity controls.  The Cybersecurity Specialist also helps define the trainer architecture to ensure cybersecurity regulations can be met while maintaining operational capability of the training devices. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Command a clear understanding of DoD Information Assurance regulations.  This includes staying up to date with changes to regulations and attending training courses and conferences to understand the current regulations and how industry is meeting these regulations. 

  • Review current programs and define the steps needed for meeting the applicable Information Assurance regulations.  This includes detailed planning of all aspects of IA Compliance. 

  • Apply computer changes to comply with DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) 

  • Work closely with Integration Specialists assigned to programs to define required tasks to be accomplished to meet IA regulations. 

  • Working closely with customers and US Government on Integrated Program Teams to define program IA requirements. 

  • Writing Information Assurance documents to define plans and scope of IA requirements. 

  • Write Proposal sections to explain how CAE will meet IA regulations. 

  • Operating system level setup of computers to implement controls and apply patches to eliminate vulnerabilities. 

  • Research and install boundary defense mechanisms such as firewalls, network Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), routers, and managed switches. 

  • Research and install virus protection software 

  • Create, update and release documentation required by the customer’s RMF process to support the training device’s Authority To Operate (ATO).  

 

Qualifications and Education Requirements  

  •  B.S. degree in appropriate engineering discipline (preferably Computer Science or Computer Engineering) 

  • Minimum of eight years of related experience. 

  • Working knowledge of DoD IA regulations 

  • CISSP or equivalent IA certification preferred 

  • Prior experience in operating system setup and updates to apply patches to mitigate Information Assurance Vulnerabilities. 

  • Related skill areas should include technical writing and presentation skills.  

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.  Analytical and mathematical modeling ability.  

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. 

  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. 

  • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. 

  • Should be familiar with and be able to operate simulation training devices.   

  • Should be familiar with and able to support Engineering or Operations staff on any type and sub-component of training devices. 

  • The types of devices that will be encountered include full flight motion devices, maintenance training devices, entertainment devices and fixed base training devices.   

  • Must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance 

Preferred Skills  

The preferred skills and experience desired for the position are:  

  • Windows deployment, hardening and System Administration experience. 

  • Linux deployment, hardening and System Administration experience. 

  • Experience with setup and hardening and sustainment of Networking equipment. 

  • Experience with ACAS, SCAP, E-STIG, STIG Viewer and Vulnerator. 

  • Experience with RMF Authorization Paperwork (including, but not limited to) RAR’s, diagrams, Ports Protocols and Services, Hardware lists, software lists, and STIG Checklists.  

 

Security Responsibilities  

Must comply with all company security and data protection / usage policies and procedures.  Personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all information and materials, in any form. Shall not divulge any information, or afford access, to other employees not having a need-to-know. Shall not divulge information outside company without management approval.  All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company provided resources.   

  •  Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance.  

 

Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role.  

 

Work Environment  

This job typically operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. 

  • Work locations can be dependent on the location of the system, classification and network availability. The systems examined as part of this job can be in classified labs and/or customer facilities,   

  • Work is performed in an environment where irritants such as noise from telephones, temperature and lighting variations may exist, but there is little chance of injury, accident or occupational health problems. 

  • Works at job activities that require sitting, standing or walking for short periods throughout the day and focused visual concentration or focused listening 

  • Moderate to high levels of stress, associated with technical, schedule, and customer issues are to be expected with this position.  Extended work hours and possible 2nd and 3rd shift assignments are likely to be encountered.  

Physical Demands  

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.   

  • May be required to sit down for long lengths of time. 

  • May be required to climb stairs. 

  • Must be able to travel CONUS and to International sites 

  • Must be able to climb stairs to enter and exit a simulator
