About the role

Threat Labs, Gen is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Junior Threat Analysis Engineer for an internship position in our team. The intern will work alongside experienced threat analysts and researchers to identify, analyze and detect emerging threats and attack vectors. This opportunity provides direct exposure to threat intelligence, malware analysis, and security research, offering a great chance to gain practical experience and a comprehensive understanding of the cybersecurity environment.

What you will do in this role:

  • Collaborate with Senior Threat Analysts to develop your expertise in key areas of cybersecurity, including malware analysis, threat intelligence, and incident response.

  • Assist in conducting in-depth static and behavioral analysis of malware samples to uncover functionalities, attack vectors, and possible indicators of compromise (IoCs).

  • Participate in the analysis of malware to identify techniques, tactics, and procedures (TTPs) used by threat actors, helping to inform threat detection and defense strategies.

  • Learn how to develop detection patterns for various cyber threats and help track these threats to enhance protection mechanisms against the ever-evolving landscape of online risks.

  • Contribute to the development of tools, scripts, and automation processes to streamline analysis workflows, increasing the efficiency and scalability of threat identification and response.

What you will need to be successful in this role:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

  • Basic knowledge of cybersecurity concepts, threat intelligence, and malware analysis is a plus.

  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.

  • Familiarity with scripting or programming languages (Python, PowerShell, Bash) is a plus.

  • Understanding of cyberattack techniques is a plus.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
