This position will be located in Roy, Utah and will support the Sentinel (GBSD) program. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
The candidate will be responsible for leading a team of software engineers and system administrators, providing guidance and assigning work for the Software Development Environment (SDE). The candidate will collaborate closely with the SDE Element Lead, SDE Architect and other SDE Product Owners to plan, develop, integrate, and test infrastructure and software development tools that enables the program to build and deploy Weapon System capabilities.
This position can be assigned to perform 20% functional management responsibilities and 80% technical responsibilities based on mission needs.
What You’ll Get To Do:
Functional Management responsibilities include:
• Support recruitment activities including the creation of requisitions, conducting interviews, and approving offers
• Collaborate with the SDE Element Lead and Software Engineering Functional Homeroom to establish personal, program and functional goals as well as perform performance evaluations and merit adjustments for team members
• Provide their team members with career development recommendations, mentoring, discipline, as necessary.
• Acquire the necessary computers, equipment and tools to enable their subordinates to perform their work and will generate training plans based on the program and their subordinates' needs.
• Provide their team with regular flow down of company and organizational status and appropriately represent and be a spokesperson for the Software Engineering organization to their group, assigned project, and the company.
• Set and promote high standards for engineering development
• Foster a working environment which reinforces and drives accountability to fundamental Northrop Grumman Values focused on integrity, quality, shared success, and innovation.
• Partner with engineering and program management peers to assure a balanced and efficient assignment of resources to support and achieve key mission priorities
• Coach, support, train, and motivate team members to ensure a high level of performance
• Collaborate with peers and direct management in resource planning and hiring activities
Technical responsibilities include:
• Assist with the design of, as well as configure and maintain, infrastructure and/or cloud resources necessary to reliably host, run, and support applications through all phases of the software development life cycle (SDLC).
• Create and maintain continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
• Write scripts and configurations to automate software testing, deployment, and maintenance in a manner consistent with software engineering best practices
• Proactively monitor build and deployment pipelines and infrastructure, apply patches, troubleshoot issues, and resolve errors.
• Automate infrastructure and/or cloud resource deployments and configuration using infrastructure-as-code tools.
• Remediate findings from vulnerability scanning and penetration testing.
• Informally mentor other team members in DevOps concepts and processes.
• Work with peers and business partners to identify workflows or processes where automation can improve efficiency and or reduce costs.
• Provide Application support, configuration, installation and troubleshooting
• Troubleshoot technical issues, identify the cause, determine possible resolutions, and remediate issues in existing applications
• Serve as Product Owner managing priorities, scope and schedule, as needed
• Serve as Control Account Management (CAM) or Work Package Lead (WPL) as needed

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
- 6 Years experience with Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field of study; or 4 additional years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
- Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance.
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval
- 4 years experience with build tools (i.e., Maven, Ant, GNU make) and/or continuous integration environments (i.e., Jenkins, GitLab, Bamboo) and/or repositories (i.e. Nexus, JFROG).
- IAT Level II certification (e.g. Security + CE) or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- 4 years experience with Jira/Confluence in an Agile environment.
- Proficiency with Linux based software development tools.
- 4 years experience of Microsoft and Linux Red Hat operating system.
- 4 years experience with scripting languages (i.e. PERL, Python, Bash, YAML).
- 4 years of DevOps experience with container technologies in support of building and implementing CI/CD pipelines
- 4 years of Kubernetes experience
- Experience with Virtualization Technologies
- Experience as a Product Owner or other technical leadership position in an Agile environment. Familiarity with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).
- Ability to obtain Northrop Grumman Cost Account Management (CAM) certification with 3 months of hire
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field of study.
- Active DoD Secret clearance with a reinvestigation date occurring in the last 6 years.
- Experience with automation/configuration management using either Ansible, Chef or equivalent.
- Experience with source code configuration management tools (i.e git).
- Experience with HashiCorp Packer and Vault.
- Familiarity with container hardening and SBOM
- Previous experience with Cost Account Management (CAM) and Earned Value
- Certified Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) Product Owner
- Proven ability to help solve problems or conflicts within teams
- Proven ability to hold team members accountable to complete work based on approved technical architecture, on schedule and within budget
- Detailed and team oriented with excellent interpersonal communication, leadership and organizational skills.
- Strong critical thinking and logical reasoning skills with the ability to solve issues

Salary Range: $135,100.00 - $202,700.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
