Prevailance is seeking an experienced and mission-focused professional to support Headquarters (HQ) Supreme Allied Commander Transformation's (SACT) as a RED Team Terrorism / Counterterrorism Subject Matter Expert (SME).


The Terrorism/Counterterrorism SME will serve as a key subject matter expert on designated terrorist organizations and related counterterrorism operations within NATO’s Red Team. This role involves providing in-depth analysis on emerging terrorism threats, adversarial strategies, and technological advancements to inform NATO's decision-making processes. The SME will advise on the implementation of WDA Lines of Delivery and ensure NATO’s readiness in dealing with complex challenges associated with terrorism. The position requires expertise in terrorism and counterterrorism operations, the ability to collaborate with NATO and external entities, and a strong background in strategic analysis and reporting. 


Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) on designated terrorist organizations and consult on terrorism and counterterrorism operations
  • Assist in developing, coordinating, and advising on the implementation of WDA Lines of Delivery, focusing on the NWCC timeline and strategic challenges associated with designated terrorist groups
  • Conduct detailed research and analysis on emerging terrorism threats, adversarial strategies, and technological advancements
  • Contribute to the Red Team’s activities by assisting in drafting, reviewing, and finalizing reports, strategic analyses, and wargame evaluations
  • Provide expert recommendations on ACT projects and wargames related to terrorism and counterterrorism operations
  • Provide advice and assessments to validate counterterrorism planning inputs and ensure they are strategically sound
  • Offer reach-back support to NATO HQ and ACT Directorates for planning activities, contingencies, and exercise events related to terrorism
  • Act as a liaison between the Red Team and NATO entities, coordinating efforts, sharing intelligence, and aligning with NATO objectives
  • Maintain a repository of Red Team knowledge, including best practices, lessons learned, and research findings

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated project management experience, including complex stakeholder management tasks
  • Experience working with international teams
  • Experience as a field-grade officer with a background in counterintelligence or demonstrated counterterrorism operations
  • Experience working in a Strategic Headquarters dealing with terrorism-related issues
  • Research experience from an accredited academic institution, government, or a similar environment
  • Background in international relations, security studies, or geopolitical analysis
  • Published work demonstrating knowledge of political, geopolitical, human, and economic issues related to terrorism
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken)
  • Knowledge of NATO’s structure, work environment, and operations
  • Citizenship of a NATO member country
  • US / NATO Member Country Passport required

Desired:

  • Possess a familiarity with the organization and hierarchy of the military rank and grade structure
  • Possess a knowledge of military terminology

Education:

  • Master’s degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., international relations, security studies, political science)
  • PMP or equivalent required 

Clearance:

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a NATO Secret Clearance or national equivalent
