Prevailance is seeking an experienced and mission-focused professional to support Headquarters (HQ) Supreme Allied Commander Transformation's (SACT) as a RED Team Russian Subject Matter Expert (SME).
The Russia SME role focuses on providing in-depth expertise on Russia and Eurasian affairs to support NATO decision-making, wargaming, and strategic planning. The SME will analyze emerging threats, adversarial strategies, and geopolitical developments, coordinating with NATO entities and external experts to enhance understanding and response strategies. The role requires strong research, analysis, and project management skills, along with experience in strategic headquarters and stakeholder coordination. A deep understanding of NATO structures, fluency in Russian and English, and a NATO Secret Clearance are essential for this position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as subject matter expert (SME) on Russia; consultable on Eurasian affairs
- Coordinate external subject matter expertise on Russia in support of designated projects, ensuring alignment with the Tier approach to leverage knowledge across NATO and relevant external entities
- Assist in developing, coordinating, and advising on the implementation of WDA Lines of Delivery focused on the NWCC timeline and the strategic/operational challenges associated with Russia
- Conduct in-depth research and analysis on emerging threats, adversarial strategies, and technological advancements to inform the Red Team’s activities and support NATO’s decision-making processes
- Assist in drafting, reviewing, and finalizing Red Team reports, strategic analyses, and wargame evaluations to ensure high-quality deliverables that meet NATO standards
- Apply SME-level analytic skills to recommend actions required for a variety of ACT programs involving Russia
- Provide advice and assessments to validate that Russia planning inputs are strategically sound
- Provide reach-back support to NATO HQ and ACT Directorates for planning activities, contingencies, and exercise events relating to Russia
- Act as a liaison between the Red Team and other NATO entities, supporting coordination efforts, sharing intelligence, and ensuring alignment with broader NATO objectives and strategic initiatives
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience working with international teams
- Demonstrated experience in project management, including complex stakeholder management tasks; PMP or equivalent required
- Demonstrated research experience in a relevant accredited academic institution, organization, or similar, related to the field of expertise
- Experience working in a Strategic Headquarters dealing with complex issues related to Russia
- Experience in corporate, government, or academic environments in analysis concerning international relations, security studies, or similar
- Lived or worked in the area of concentration if a regional caveat applies
- Published work demonstrating knowledge of regional political, geopolitical, human, and economic issues
- Demonstrated fluency in English
- Demonstrated fluency in Russian
- Understanding of NATO and its unique structure and work environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Tool Suite and collaborative software
- Proven ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- US / NATO Member Country Passport required
Desired:
- Possess a familiarity with the organization and hierarchy of the military rank and grade structure
- Possess a knowledge of military terminology
Education:
- Master’s degree in a relevant discipline
Clearance:
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a NATO Secret Clearance or national equivalent
