As the Senior Cybersecurity Engineer, you will be on a dynamic team at our client’s site in Washington, D.C where you support the efforts to design, integrate, and test the myriad of IT systems being installed aboard the vessel. Serco is seeking an energetic self-starter who wants to be part of a ship building program to support the customer’s program office. Our team supports the customer in the design, construction, and test of the U.S. Navy’s Fast Frigate warship.
In this role, you will:
- Review and analyze technical documentation to ensure network architecture solutions are in accordance with guidelines for the ashore platform baseline; and adhere to DOD, DON, and NAVSEA Cybersecurity policies (e.g., RMF, CYBERSAFE).
- Recommend network architecture changes to bridge gaps or adjust to evolving cybersecurity policy and standards.
- Participate in working groups to review and document system software vulnerabilities.
- Identify software deficiencies and recommending mitigation solutions.
- Advise team on challenging technical issues, coordinates the use of resources across the organization on multi-disciplinary problems, and provides technical guidance and leadership to less-experienced engineers and other technical staff.
- Work within a peer group of senior technical staff to periodically review technical plans, results, and work products.
- Provide support for the risk management program, including facilitation of risk board meetings and assessments.
- Participate in inspections of all IT systems after installation aboard the platform.
- Draft applicable inspection reports that note discrepancies against approved build specs and PARM system requirements.
- Provide support during the cybersecurity test & evaluation of developmental & operational tests of FFG 62 and ships that follow (within the scope of this contract) during the following test events:
- Cooperative Vulnerability Identification
- Adversarial Cybersecurity DT&E
- Cooperative Vulnerability and Penetration Assessment
- Adversarial Assessment
- Work within the team to prepare formal briefings to the U.S. Government staff and project sponsors.
- Participate in technical discussions at program review sessions in accordance with direct taskings.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance
- US Citizenship
- Bachelor's Degree preferably in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or Engineering equivalent
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related technical field preferred.
- An Associate's Degree and 2 years of additional experience or a High School Diploma/GED and 4 years of additional experience and cybersecurity certifications will be considered in lieu of Bachelor's Degree.
- 7 years of experience (Cybersecurity experience highly preferred)
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification, similar certification, or ability to obtain soon after hire.
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
Additional desired experience and skills:
- An Active or Current Secret Clearance
- Experience as an Information Systems Security Developer (ISSD) (Advanced) (CSWF Work Role ID: 631 (NIST: SP-SYS-001)).

In compliance with the District of Columbia’s Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the salary range for this role is $97,787.27 to $162,978.79; however, Serco considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills.
