As a Privacy Officer - Projects you’ll be supporting the delivery the Privacy Programme, covering the management of projects and initiatives to enable business transformation by embedding the core principles of privacy by design and privacy by default. This will help us excel at data protection to stay ahead of the game.
 

What you’ll be doing

As part of your role, your responsibilities will include:

  • Project Management of assigned privacy and data protection projects and initiatives.

  • PMO & Portfolio Management across all deliverable-based projects for the Privacy function, ensuring each is managed through formal project management disciplines.

  • The management of key stakeholders and business owners required to deliver appropriate business and technical controls.

  • Assisting the Group Privacy Operations and Projects Manager in identifying and managing risks relating to personal data.

  • Providing input into Data Protection Impact Assessments and other privacy risk assessments to assess the impact of new processing activities and business changes involving personal data.

  • Providing the business with commercially aware advice and support, based on expert knowledge, industry best practice and empirical evidence.

  • Maintaining an expert knowledge of all relevant legislation, regulation, industry guidelines and technical documents and acting as a subject matter expert for all Data Protection issues

  • Maintaining a broad understanding of compliance processes such as AML and Responsible Gambling processes

  • Supporting the Incident Breach Management process and working with the Data Protection Officer on incident/breach management

  • Creating and maintaining documented processes, procedures, and training materials for staff education in relation to DSRs and Technical Compliance awareness across the group

  • Assisting the Privacy team in all operational and business as usual data privacy activities.

  • Assisting in ad hoc duties as and when required

  • Being a proactive advocate and brand ambassador of the Privacy Programme across the business and push for the delivery of its objectives

Essential skills you’ll bring to the table

The necessary skills that we require for this role include:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and effectively

  • Experience working collaboratively in cross-functional teams, with a focus on achieving shared goals

  • Expertise in managing multiple projects simultaneously, with a track record of delivering on time and within scope

  • Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring high standards of quality in all outputs

  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing environments and priorities, maintaining effectiveness in dynamic situations

  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a similar, hands-on role data protection role

  • Excellent project management skills

  • Privacy qualifications such as the CIPM or CIPP/E

  • Track record of delivering on a range of privacy, technology, or Information Security projects within a commercial environment

  • Good understanding of project and programme methodologies

  • An understanding or awareness of data protection compliance in multiple jurisdictions, operational territories, and licences

Desirable skills you’ve got up your sleeve

It would be great if you also have some of the following skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of sports betting markets, including odds calculation, betting types and market trends

  • Previous experience in the online gaming or casino industry, with a strong understanding of player behaviour and industry regulations

  • Familiarity with gambling regulations and compliance requirements in various jurisdictions, ensuring adherence to legal standards

  • Experience in developing and executing customer retention strategies

  • Knowledge of the Information Security or Cyber Security domains

  • Relevant third level degree, such as Law, Information Technology or equivalent experience

  • Experience in managing and reporting data breaches/incidents.

  • Good working knowledge of industry standards such as ISO27001, NIST and ISO27701

  • Experience working in a compliance or data protection department.

  • Experience of working in a process driven environment

  • Knowledge of wider regulatory requirements such as gambling regulation and money laundering

  • Good working knowledge of project management and privacy management systems
