Health care security leadership plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of patients, staff, and visitors. As the Senior Director of Security, you will ensure that all security operations comply with healthcare regulations and standards. This includes training security officers to adhere to these standards and leading by example. You will be proactive in identifying and addressing safety issues, reporting potential hazards, suggest improvements, and develop solutions to security challenges. You will act as liaison with local law enforcement and emergency services, fostering cooperation and ensuring a comprehensive approach to safety. As the system senior leader, you will continuously evaluate and improve security programs, staying updated on the latest best practices and technologies. POSITION SUMMARY
This position oversees the security function in all Banner Health facilities. Leads strategic security planning to achieve alignment among corporate and facility security goals and objectives. Provides direction, leadership and consultation to Banner health operations on security programs and policies and procedures. Implements common system security programs, policies and procedures. Provides security/safety related direction and support to facility leadership.

CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Directs, supervises, and evaluates work of facility security directors/managers. Hires and develops new employees and conducts performance reviews. Motivates and coaches staff to achieve department and system goals. Creates a cohesive team committed to service quality. Encourages staff participation in employee engagement surveys and responds appropriately to survey results.

2. Develops and manages operational and capital budgets to meet company standards. Manages department compliance with operating expenses.

3. Designs and implements reporting processes to monitor effectiveness and performance of programs, policies, and procedures. Manages and reports key security indicators and metrics established in partnership with facility and system leadership. Disseminates information on trends and the impact of security programs.

4. Performs security evaluations as needed in facility and region. Works with under-performing programs to bring them to benchmark.

5. Ensures compliance with security standards and regulatory/accreditation agency requirements. Directs the security management plan at assigned facilities, as required by the Joint Commission. Applies continuous quality improvement principles to the security function and recommends solutions.

6. Develops, leads and implements system-wide security program. Presents reports on targets, rationale and incentives to senior management. Communicates stages of Security program to stakeholders. Coordinates work and effectiveness of Security Program task groups. Oversees facility responsibility for design, installation, supervision, upgrading and maintenance of security systems in all facilities. Systems may include card access systems, video systems, emergency alarm systems, etc.

7. Designs, develops and implements system-wide educational programs for team members, facility staff, stakeholders, and leaders related to security program, policies and procedures. Influences governance, executives and clinical staff in their roles as they relate to security.

8. Assumes accountability for specified system or facility security programs. Examples include oversight of System K-9 Program, corporate security dispatch center, or facility valet and shuttle services. Maintains working knowledge of applicable international, federal, state and local laws and regulations.

9. This position is assigned System and Facility-specific responsibilities. Internal customers include all levels of employees, physicians, patients, visitors and volunteers. External customers include law enforcement agencies, TJC, and other regulatory agencies, security system vendors, schools and neighborhood associations. Depending upon assignment, will organize and direct the security/safety function at one or more facilities on hospital campuses and off-site to ensure professional, legal and efficient operation.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field or equivalent level of education and experience. Expert-level working knowledge of principles, practices, and operations in assigned or related area of responsibility as normally obtained through a minimum of seven years of progressively responsible managerial experience, including a minimum of two years management level experience within a healthcare system setting or large multi-operational, complex corporate environment.

Depending upon assigned area of responsibility, position may require applicable certifications and/or licensures, including but not limited to: RN; MD or DO; Driver’s License; Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator (CHPA); Certified Protection Professional (CPP); Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU); Associate in Risk Management (ARM); CPA; SPHR; Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA); Registered Health Information Technologist (RHIT); Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM); Certified Facility Manager (CFM); Certified Coding Specialist (CCS); Certified Professional Coder (CPC); JD from an American Bar Association accredited school; admission to a State Bar Association.

Must demonstrate expert-level knowledge and awareness of area of expertise in designated facility, business entity or area and/or experience in which the knowledge, skills, and abilities are directly transferrable. Proven track record of driving successful performance outcomes and accomplishing organizational goals. Must demonstrate skills and business acumen through direct leadership experiences such as: Anticipating and responding to the needs of internal and external customers; managing a budget and financial plans; building partnerships with management, staff, and stakeholders to achieve department goals and objectives; managing problems and situations where uncertainty is inherent; persuading others to adopt a particular stance on an issue; developing and evaluating best practices and emerging trends for organizational applicability and appropriateness; constructing new and innovative solutions for complex and varying problems and situations while considering the larger perspective or context; mentoring and coaching staff by providing open and honest feedback to enhance performance; developing and implementing strategic goals and initiatives that support organizational success; demonstrating excellent human relations, organizational and communication skills; demonstrating a passion about continuously improving and providing high quality care and service excellence to customers, patients, families, employees and/or physicians.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS


Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator (CHPA) or Certified Protection Professional (CPP) is preferred.

Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
