Information Technology Security Analyst
(40 hours/week)
Waterloo Office (In-Office)
The Information Technology (IT) Security Analyst provides in-depth security technical support and analysis and back-up ‘help-desk’ assistance to Karis Disability Services employees on issues relating to desktop, laptop, mobile devices, applications, connections, and functions. They support the administration of the Karis Disability Services network security infrastructure and provides technical support for software installation/configuration and hardware troubleshooting. They support the integrity of security measures in place and provides insights in developing and adapting strategies to improve current protection systems.
Responsibilities:
- Implement and maintain security tools, solutions processes and policies to mitigate and manage risk, including conducting vulnerability assessments, mitigation of security risks, baseline compliance and monitoring, perimeter protection, security incident and event management.
- Research, recommend and implement upgrades to network firewalls, anti-spyware and anti-malware.
- Conduct computer forensic analysis in response to technology system breaches; documenting and making recommendations as part of investigations.
- Develop, implement, and support document backup strategies within locations.
- Implement and support the installation of operating systems, software patches, and anti-virus software and updates within locations.
- Manage the procurement, implementation, management and security of mobile devices.
- Develop, implement, and support secure Internet access strategies (firewalls) within support locations.
- Assist the Digital, Technology and Information Systems team in developing risk control processes for network and computer infrastructures.
- Perform workstation software and hardware set up, maintenance, and problem solving.
- Provide training to end-users as needed in applications, operation, and maintenance.
- Provide technical support for software installation, configuration, and hardware troubleshooting.
- Set up, diagnose, and repair computers as per Karis Disability Services’ standards and policies.
- Maintain up-to-date inventory of hardware and software within Karis Disability Services.
Requirements:
- 1-2 years of previous work experience in an Information Technology role
- College Diploma or Bachelor's degree in a computer subject preferred.
- Certificate in a security-related study considered an asset.
- Understanding of Networking Fundamentals, Operating Systems, Programming/Scripting, Cyber Security Tools, Forensics, and Incident Response.
- Understanding of modern cyber security tools, platforms, systems and practices is considered an asset.
