Senior Cable and Wiring Specialist

Job Description

NetImpact Strategies, Inc. is seeking to hire a Cabling and Wiring Specialist to support a Federal Agency.

This role is located 100% onsite in Fort Sam Houston, TX. Candidate must be eligible for a Background Check.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, modify, repair, and test copper and optical fiber cables to ensure proper connectivity and functionality.
• Document cable infrastructure activities, manage work orders, and track project progress to meet deadlines and standards.
• Install, configure, and troubleshoot network protocols and resolve issues with networked devices and communication services.
• Conduct surveys to gather customer requirements and support telecommunications staff with voice and data infrastructure operations.
• Develop and manage Bills of Materials (BOM) while ensuring compliance with TIA/EIA standards for fiber cabling and installation.
• Prepare and install conduits and fire stop materials while managing multiple cable installation projects to ensure quality and efficiency.
• Operate and maintain cable systems, perform fiber splicing and termination, and utilize test equipment such as Waverunner and OTDR.
• Proactively troubleshoot and resolve network issues, ensuring swift resolution of equipment and system problems.
• Conduct surveys and gather customer requirements for voice and data services to optimize connectivity solutions.
• Support multiple cable and conduit installation projects, ensuring adherence to industry standards and efficient workflow.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications and Certifications

• A minimum of 6 years of experience demonstrating the required proficiency.
• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• Candidate must be eligible for a Background Check.
• Certified Network Cable Installer (CNCI) certificate.
• Ability to work 100% onsite in Fort Sam Houston, TX.

Preferred Qualifications and Certifications

• Previous Federal Consulting Experience.
• Additional certifications in cabling or networking technologies.
• Experience with large-scale or complex cabling projects.
• Proficiency in using advanced cable testing and diagnostic tools.
