The Cyber Prevention Section is responsible for informing measures to defeat adversaries upstream of an incident, improves system security confidence, and assure the Cyber Security Operations Centre.
The Vulnerabilities team takes a risk based approach to the prevention of unauthorised access to Home Affairs networks, systems and applications. The Vulnerabilities team identifies, triages and assesses technical vulnerabilities relevant to the Department, informing business and system owners of the criticality of vulnerabilities, the risk of non-remediation, and providing intelligence informed patching time frames to prevent exploitation. Validation of remediation of these vulnerabilities is confirmed using departmental tools.

Our ideal candidate
- Sound knowledge of Networking
- Sound knowledge of Vulnerability Management.
- Understanding of cyber security concepts including threat vectors, attack surface, CIA triad, etc
- A strong understanding of the Information Security Manual (ISM) and the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF)
- 5 or more years' experience in ICT related fields.
Duties and responsibilities
- Manage ongoing procurement requirements for the Vulnerability Management team.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders regarding vulnerability notices and system/environment scanning.
- Develop and implement vulnerability management training pathways, enabling functions and processes.
- Manage all other support functions required to enable the production of vulnerability notices and continual departmental vulnerability scanning.

Eligibility
To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.
The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting Level 1 (AGSVA) security clearance, and:
- ABF Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
- Home Affairs Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Onboarding Check.
In certain circumstances, an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC) may be required in addition to, or in lieu of, an Onboarding Check, which will be determined by the delegate as necessary.
