Who we are looking for:

We are looking for a forward-thinking Manufacturing Systems Lead / Plant IT Manager who thrives in a fast-paced startup environment. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of technical expertise and business acumen, with a proven track record in managing IT systems within a manufacturing environment. You should be adept at deploying and managing all plant systems such as MES, ERP, WMS, SCADA for a greenfield site and have experience with industrial cyber controls. Your leadership skills will be key in overseeing major projects, including network installation, computer room updates, and plant floor systems support.

 Central Midwest location in a highly desirable mid-size community. Must be willing to relocate to Slate manufacturing plant location. This position is not in Troy, MI/Metro Detroit

What you get to do

  • IT Executive partner to the Head of Manufacturing aligning IT vision with Business Vision in a customer focused manner.
  • Ownership of Manufacturing Systems: Manage and maintain all manufacturing at the plant including but not limited to MES, ERP, WMS, SCADA.
  • Major Software Deployments: Implementation and Deployment of all manufacturing systems including the MES, ERP (manufacturing scope) and WMS for a start-up, greenfield site, ensuring effective implementation and integration with other plant and corporate systems. Define and manage support structures.
  • Major Infrastructure Projects: Oversee major projects including but not limited to network installation, computer room, security cameras in line with Infrastructure Lead and Security Lead. Define and manage support structures.
  • MES Management: Oversee the MES system, ensuring its effective operation and integration with other plant systems, handle complex data and integration needs.
  • Team Leadership: Lead a team of IT professionals, including Application support structure and Service Desk. Work across the Manufacturing organization to ensure consistent processes in line with centralized service desk and technical network support.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement IT strategies to support manufacturing operations.
  • Cross Department Collaboration: Work closely with Business IS support and other departments to ensure IT systems meet business needs and enhance operational efficiency.
  • System Integration: Ensure seamless integration of IT systems across the plant, facilitating smooth data flow and operational processes.
  • Problem Solving: Address and resolve IT-related issues promptly, minimizing downtime and ensuring continuous operation of manufacturing systems.
  • Compliance: Ensure all IT systems comply with industry standards and regulations.
  • Budget Management: Oversee the IT budget for the plant, ensuring cost-effective solutions and efficient resource allocation.
  • Vendor Management: Manage relationships with IT vendors and service providers, ensuring high-quality service and support.
  • Training and Development: Provide training and development opportunities for the IT team to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Cybersecurity: Implement and manage industrial cyber controls to protect manufacturing systems from cyber threats and ensure the security of sensitive data.

What you bring to the team

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field. A master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, ITIL) is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 15-20 years of experience in managing IT systems within a manufacturing environment, preferably in the automotive industry. Proven experience in deploying Manufacturing Systems in a greenfield site is in a startup environment and working with electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing is a strong plus.
  • Experience with industrial cyber controls is essential.
    Technical Skills: Proficiency in Manufacturing Systems, and integration layers.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and manage a team of IT professionals.
  • Experience in leading cross-functional teams and driving organizational change.
  • Strategic Thinking: Strong strategic planning and execution skills, with the ability to develop and implement long-term IT strategies.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with senior management.
  • Certifications: Relevant cybersecurity certifications such as CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), CISM (Certified Information Security Manager), or CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker) are optional but desired.
