Sentar is seeking a Senior Server Engineer!

The Senior Server Engineer will support USSTRATCOM/J61 by designing, sustaining, modernizing, and integrating enterprise-wide server architectures to support Nuclear Command and Control (NC3), Cyber, Electromagnetic Spectrum Management, and Missile Defense. This role will ensure the security, performance, and scalability of Windows, UNIX, and Linux environments.

Role Description:

  • Manage, configure, and optimize enterprise server environments, including Windows Server, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), and UNIX-based systems.
  • Implement server automation and orchestration using tools such as Ansible, PowerShell, and Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform.
  • Maintain Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP), Identity & Access Management (IDAM), DNS integration, and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) solutions.
  • Oversee patch management, system hardening, and security compliance in accordance with DoD standards.
  • Manage Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM), and Windows Server Update Service (WSUS).
  • Administer Red Hat Satellite Server, Red Hat Identity Manager, and enterprise-level UNIX configurations.
  • Support containerization and virtualization technologies, including VMware, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • Conduct performance monitoring, log analysis, and system troubleshooting.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, and risk assessments for server environments.
  • Collaborate with network engineers and cybersecurity teams to integrate Zero Trust security models into server operations.

Qualifications:

Clearance Level: TS with SCI eligibility

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. Master’s degree may substitute for three (3) years of experience

Certifications:: DoD 8140/8570 Compliance Certification (e.g., Security+, CISSP, CASP+) and one of the below

  • Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate
  • Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)
  • Linux Professional Institute Certification (LPIC-2 or higher)
  • CompTIA Linux+
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP)

Experience:

  • 8+ years of experience in server engineering, system administration, and enterprise IT management.
  • Strong expertise in Windows Server (2019 or later) and RHEL (8 or later) environments.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Active Directory, Group Policy, and PowerShell scripting.
  • Experience with UNIX-based systems, shell scripting, and enterprise authentication solutions.
  • Proficiency in cloud and hybrid-cloud environments, including AWS, Azure, or private cloud solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of server security best practices, hardening techniques, and vulnerability management.
  • Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V, KVM).
  • Ability to develop and maintain detailed server architecture documentation.
  • Familiarity with classified and unclassified DoD environments, including DISA STIGs, RMF, and cybersecurity frameworks.
