Supervisor – Operational Support of Cybersecurity IAM and Monitoring Tools

Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and dynamic Supervisor to help oversee the Operational Support of Identity and Access Management (IAM) systems and Cybersecurity Monitoring Tools. The ideal candidate will have 5-7 years of experience in supporting a team, preferably in the Utility or Government sectors, and will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and secure operation of IAM systems and cybersecurity monitoring tools. The role will require strong exposure to IAM solutions, security monitoring, and operational support, combined with strong leadership skills to guide a team towards maintaining high security standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Oversight: Supervise the day-to-day operations of the IAM and cybersecurity monitoring tools team, ensuring systems are functioning optimally and securely.
- Team Leadership: Lead a team of operational support specialists, providing mentorship, training, and performance evaluations to foster a high-performing team.
- Lifecycle Tool Maintenance & Support: Ensure proper configuration, updates, patches, and ongoing support for IAM and cybersecurity monitoring tools, including but not limited to tools such as Splunk, Industrial Defender, Dragos, Trellix, Forcepoint, SailPoint, RSA Secure ID, CyberArk and AppViewX. This includes engaging with the renewal team to validate upcoming software / maintenance renewals.
- Support Ticket Management: Oversee the detection, analysis, and resolution of IAM and cybersecurity tickets or issues, ensuring timely response and mitigation. This would include vendor engagement as needed for P1/P2 incidents.
- System Monitoring: Work with peer Incident Response and Engineering groups to monitor security systems and IAM Dashboards to ensure tools are well supported and operating as intended.
- Compliance & Reporting: Ensure that all IAM and cybersecurity systems meet regulatory requirements and industry standards (NIST, ISO, SOC 2), and partnering with internal Risk and Compliance teams to maintain respective documentation.
- Collaboration with IT & Security Teams: Work closely with IT and cybersecurity teams to resolve issues, improve processes, and implement new tools or technologies that enhance security operations. This includes resource planning for capital projects that bring on new tools.
- Process Improvement: Lead initiatives to improve operational efficiency and streamline processes related to IAM and cybersecurity monitoring tools.
- User Access Management: Ensure that user access requests, modifications, and terminations are handled in compliance with IAM policies and procedures.
- Vendor Coordination: Manage third-party vendor relationships to ensure the effective delivery of IAM and cybersecurity monitoring tools and services such that our software license renewal dates are not impacted or left to expire.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or 4 years of experience equivalent to the position.
- 5-7 years of experience in operational support of IAM or cybersecurity tools.
- Strong knowledge of Identity and Access Management (IAM) systems such as SailPoint, CyberArk, RSA SecureID and Azure SSO.
- Experience with cybersecurity monitoring tools, including SIEM platforms like Splunk and OT monitoring tools like Dragos and Industrial Defender.
- Good understanding of network security, incident response, and vulnerability management processes.
- Four years of prior people leadership experience - Team management skills, with a proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team of technical professionals.
- Seven years of related functional experience
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements in the Utility or Government sectors, including CIP and OT environments.
- Experience with troubleshooting, diagnostics, and problem resolution in IAM and cybersecurity systems.
- Solid understanding of security best practices, including user access controls, monitoring, and cyber health dashboards
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and ensuring continuity of service in a highly regulated environment.
- Excellent communication skills, effective with varying organizational levels and skill sets
- Excellent Relationship Management and collaboration skills, with a track record of working as one team cross-organizationally to drive innovation and business results
- Proficient experience and knowledge of the OSI Model
- Demonstrated experience effectively managing system or equipment change deployment
- Experience in the use of system monitoring tools
- Strong time management skills, technical aptitude and analytical abilities
- Able to work in accordance with service operation schedules
- Familiarity with ITIL and/or other formal service management practices
Preferred Certifications/Skills:
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or other cybersecurity certifications.
- Certified Identity and Access Management Professional (CIAMP) or related IAM certification.
- Understanding of NERC CIP and other Utility industry compliance standards is a significant advantage.
