JOB SUMMARY:  The Vice President of Information Technology leads and oversees all aspects of the Information Technology Department for the Texas Rangers Baseball Club. This role is responsible for budgeting and financial oversight, staffing, staff development, planning, system architecture, data strategy, technology innovation, operational efficiency, fan facing technologies and stadium operations for the Texas Rangers, REV Entertainment, and specific business affiliates.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO, THE FOLLOWING:

  • Collaborate with MLB and MLB Departments and with other franchises related to operations, technologies, and innovation.

  • Train and educate self as necessary to stay current with technology advances, trends, and practices and explore new technologies for future planning and potential implementation across all departments.

  • Support local and national television and radio broadcast infrastructures in conjunction with the Broadcast and Communications departments.

  • Establish and regularly execute a strategic planning process, including evaluation of core technology capabilities, assessment of alignment with business needs, and implementing and ongoing product lifecycle methodology.

  • Establish and regularly execute a risk assessment and mitigation process as a basis of rationale for ongoing capital and operational investment planning.

  • Implement and oversee a comprehensive organizational cybersecurity platform, including, but not limited to, mobile device management, identity management and multi-factor authentication, comprehensive endpoint protection, infrastructure scanning and monitoring tools, penetration testing, educational phishing exercises, and appliance-based threat diversion.

  • Lead the Texas Rangers Cybersecurity & Risk Committee to identify and address operational and security risks.

  • Collaborate with departments, particularly Baseball Operations and Business Analytics in leading data strategy and data standards for the Texas Rangers.

  • Develop and maintain a cohesive domain and cloud architecture strategy, covering network, data, and application infrastructures.

  • Ability to manage and lead change. Manage transitions and ensure new systems and processes are implemented without negatively impacting the organization.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with league entities (e.g., MLB IT, MLB Advanced Media, and Tickets.com), key technology partners, and other strategic partners critical to the successful collaboration and delivery of technology solutions.

  • Manage all budgets, operating and capital, related to technology spend across the organization.

  • Consult on and support business software selection and implementation across the enterprise.

  • Manage the support and help desk function, maximizing responsiveness, communication, and managing organizational expectations.

  • Actively participate in league and club peer committees and working groups.

  • Assess new industry solutions and recommend innovative opportunities for all areas of the business.

  • Assess existing organizational capabilities and desired future states across both core technology and departmental functions. Build and execute plans to achieve desired state.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university, focused on Information Systems or related field;

  • Eight (8) or more years of related professional experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Advanced professional certifications are desirable.

  • Proven ability to coach, mentor, and train a team to work effectively in an industry that constantly evolves and presents new technological challenges.

  • Strong understanding of IT systems, infrastructure, and emerging technologies.

  • Ability to translate technical issues into language that can be easily understood by non-technical managers and staff.

  • Analytical thinker with ability to conceptualize big picture while at the same time possessing necessary attention to detail and diverse needs among departments.

  • Experience with systems, software, and technologies used in the sports and entertainment industry (e.g., POS, ticketing, access, etc.)

  • Experience with systems security.

  • Occasional travel may be required.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • On-call availability, including some weekends, evenings, and holidays as assigned.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
