We are looking for a Security Architect to take the lead in protecting our digital environment. In this fast-paced and innovative role, you’ll design and implement secure systems, networks, and applications to safeguard against cyber threats.

Working closely with IT teams and developers, you’ll assess risks, define security requirements, and develop tailored solutions that align with EML’s business needs. You’ll also play a key role in embedding best practices and integrating advanced security measures across our technology platforms.

This will be a full time. fixed term 12 month contract (with the view to be made permanent) based in the Sydney office, with flexibility to work from home up to 3 days per week.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design system and network security architectures that align with business goals and security principles.
  • Define secure cloud configurations and guardrails using tools such as Azure Policy, AWS Config, and CSPM platforms.
  • Partner with the Security Governance team to conduct risk assessments, apply threat modelling frameworks (e.g., MITRE ATT&CK), and enhance EML’s threat prevention, detection, and response capabilities.
  • Assess architectural risks, identify vulnerabilities, and implement risk-based security controls that balance protection with business objectives.
  • Develop reusable design patterns to ensure consistent, compliant, and scalable security practices across the organisation.
  • Stay ahead of emerging technologies and evolving cyber threats, proactively adapting security strategies.
  • Ensure security architectures align with industry best practices and remain strategically positioned for future advancements.

ABOUT YOU

  • 5+ years’ experience managing enterprise-level on-premise and multi-cloud infrastructures.
  • 2+ years’ experience in security architecture and design.
  • Industry certifications such as CISSP and CCSP.
  • Expertise in network security and cloud connectivity, including firewall solutions, secure network architectures, Zero Trust methodologies, and SASE frameworks.
  • Strong knowledge of networking protocols and cloud networking technologies, including AWS VPC, Azure Virtual Network, ExpressRoute, and Direct Connect.
  • Deep understanding of regulatory and compliance standards, such as ISO 27001, ASD Essential 8, and APRA prudential guidelines.
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps and modern SDLC methodologies.
  • Experience in threat modelling, risk assessments, and architectural reviews.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences.
