The role

Working within Saab Australia’s Naval Combat Systems (NCS) team the Cyber Systems Engineering Team Lead – Defence will oversee the team performing complex security engineering tasks, including the design, development, documentation, verification and support of a system.

The Cyber Systems Engineering Team Lead – Defence will ensure that all engineering activities comply with industry standards and project requirements while promoting innovation and continuous improvement. This position requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams and effective resource management.

Further, the successful candidate will:

  • Lead and manage the NCS System Security capability through training, recruitment, planning and championing the capability across NCS and its programs
  • Deliver the NCS security program in accordance with the governing system security program plan
  • Development and maintenance of the system security program plan, security assessment and authorisation (A&A) documentation, processes, workflows and frameworks
  • Define the security program’s needs, skills, resources, tools, etc. required to execute its activities
  • Communicate risk to cost, schedule and security outcomes to stakeholders
  • Liaise with stakeholders to define and obtain cross-disciplinary support to the security program
  • Supervise system security engineers assigned to the security program
  • Coordinate and co-chair the security working groups.

Flexible work arrangements such as hybrid work from home / office and a 9 day fortnight can be considered for this role.

About you

Your skills and experience will include:

  • At least eight years of systems engineering, including complex systems, military systems, and software intensive systems
  • A tertiary qualification(s) in a relevant discipline (e.g. systems engineering, computer science, etc.), and/or equivalent relevant experience (preferably within the defence industry)
  • Leading and mentoring engineering teams
  • Project managing multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Fostering innovation and driving technical excellence within teams
  • Defence cyber security A&A processes
  • Contemporary security engineering process, standards, principles and best practice, particularly the PSPF, DSPF and ISM
  • Systems engineering principles and practices
  • System engineering in an ASDEFCON context
  • Network and network security
  • The ability to convey complex technical information to diverse audiences
  • Building effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Applicants need to be Australian citizens and eligible for an AGSVA NV1 security clearance.
