Purpose:
The Director, Information Security is a key leadership role within the organization, responsible for supporting the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) in maintaining and advancing the organization's cybersecurity strategies, operations, and programs. The Director, Information Security will oversee the daily management of security governance and identity and access management and will play a pivotal role in supporting and collaborating with the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) to oversee and enhance the company’s cybersecurity posture. This role is directly responsible for overseeing the strategy, architecture, and operations of the enterprise IAM program, ensuring secure and efficient management of enterprise identities across the organization. This role will also partner with the CISO as a key leader within the organization and will be expected to drive continuous improvement in the security posture of FHLBI and the Information Security program. This role combines technical expertise and execution with leadership skills to drive IAM and governance initiatives and manage the assigned personnel. The successful candidate will assist in overseeing and managing the company's information security program, and will be instrumental in the development and operational implementation of information security strategies, policies, processes, and procedures to protect the company's assets

Specific Responsibilities:
Assist the CISO in formulating and executing the organization's information security strategy, policies, and programs.
Lead and manage the IAM and security governance program teams, ensuring the timely execution of processes and mitigation of associated risks.
Develop and implement security processes and technologies to align with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
Support risk assessments, audits, and compliance reviews to uphold the highest standards of data protection and governance.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, Internal Audit, Compliance, and Enterprise Risk Management to execute business processes.
Act as a mentor and leader, fostering growth and development within the information security team.
Actively manage programs and/or project portfolios that involve significant business and technical complexity and provide consistent program status and progress against objectives to meet established framework control requirements, compliance, and oversight.
Interpret security policies, regulations, standards and other mandates into security control requirements and assess against those requirements.
Contribute and champion information security best practices and innovation at the program level.
Lead meetings and execute ongoing oversight of identity and access management and security governance programs.
Responsibilities include leading and coordinating responses to external and internal audits and ensuring overall adherence to information security policies and standards.
Evaluate, measure, and report on strategic effectiveness of the information security program.
Review and contribute to program documentation and communication including, but not limited to, all notices, guidance, directives, standard operating procedures, recommendations, and briefings.
Design and author information security policies, standards, and governance procedures.
Partner with various business units to enhance security policies/procedures.
Prepare and present executive level presentations, metrics, and status reports.
Position Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in an information technology related field or equivalent experience.
Proven track record of leadership in information security, with at least 8 years of relevant experience.
3+ years of managerial experience and the ability to demonstrate success as a supervisor.
Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., NIST, CIS).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Industry certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CISA) are highly desirable.
Strategic thinking with a keen understanding of organizational priorities and business alignment.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in dynamic and high-pressure environments.
Leadership and mentoring abilities to inspire and develop a high-performing team.
Ability to balance technical expertise with business acumen to make informed decisions. Develop and maintain governance, controls, policies, standards, and procedures.
Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, and planning skills.
Strong background and understanding of Identity and Access Management practices and principles.
Knowledge of resource management principles and techniques.
Skill in creating policies, standards, and procedures that reflect security objectives.
Experience in developing detailed strategic recommendations to solve current and future security issues; identify gaps and propose effective mitigating strategies.
Strong collaboration, teamwork, and relationship building skills across technical and business functions in the organization.
Strong organization and documentation skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present effectively to team and senior leadership regularly.
