Executive Administrative Assistant to the Vice President and Director of the Homeland Security Research Division (HSRD)

RAND offers an exciting opportunity to provide high-level executive administrative support to the Vice President and Director of the Homeland Security Research Division (HSRD) in the Washington office. This position requires discretion and professional demeanor, strong organizational skills, the capacity to work independently with both the office of the Vice President and internal and external stakeholders. Must have the ability to handle a variety of tasks within time constraints, possess excellent technical skills, and utilize good judgment in prioritizing a wide range of support responsibilities. In addition, an important component of this position requires working closely with other corporate officers and their assistants in handling a variety of materials and subject matter of a sensitive and confidential nature.

Core responsibilities at the desk will include scheduling, planning, and supporting the division’s high level meetings, events, and travel. Corporate duties may also include helping with corporate-related functions as well as take on any overflow work and/or to provide general back-up support to the executive officers, as needed.

Other administrative duties may include drafting and/or preparing correspondence, memos, reports, presentations, and briefings. Seeking one who can take high level meeting notes, prepare meeting agendas, as well respond to a large volume of electronic mail. Maintaining and organizing filing systems for easy retrieval of correspondence and documents is needed, as well as one’s availability to support onsite division events and conferences, and other related responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will be a self-starter, exhibit good judgment and possess the ability to multitask and prioritize with minimal direction. The position requires several years of high-level executive administrative experience and demonstrated exceptional organizational, communication and interpersonal skills. A strong sense of discretion is required in dealing with sensitive and confidential issues. Attention to detail and accuracy is essential. It is also essential that the individual be a team player and be able to demonstrate tact, courtesy, and judgment in working with all levels of individuals within and outside of RAND.

Must possess advanced computer skills in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook to produce a variety of high quality documents in a timely, error-free fashion.

Experience:

Must have a minimum of 6 years of relevant high level administrative support experience. Completion of a Bachelor’s degree may be substituted for two years of related experience

Education:

BA/BS preferred or equivalent experience.

Security Clearance:

The ability to get Fitness is required for this role. U.S. Citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance and a secret clearance is required for this position.

Location:

Washington DC. This is a hybrid role (working onsite at least 2-3 days each week). Fully remote is not available for this role.

Salary Range: $75,700 - $109,900

RAND considers a variety of factors when formulating an offer, including but not limited to, the specific role and associated responsibilities; a candidate’s work experience, education/training, skills, expertise; and internal equity. This position is overtime eligible. Successful candidates will be offered employment in a specific title, as determined by the candidate's education and experience.
