Salary: $90,285 to $112,866 annually
Shifts: Mon-Fri Days; training or operational needs may require adjustment of work time

Position Summary
The Manager, Training & Professional Standards, Security Operations is a leadership role responsible for overseeing the development, delivery, and continuous improvement of security training programs and professional standards across UHN. Reporting to the Director, Security Operations, the Manager plays a central role in advancing the TIDES 2.0 program and ensuring security personnel deliver trauma-informed, ethical, and high-quality services. This position drives a culture of accountability, mentorship, and operational excellence, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements while supporting the safety and well-being of patients, staff, and visitors.
UHN’s Security Operations Department is dedicated to maintaining a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment across all hospital sites. With a team of trained professionals, the department provides 24/7 protection, risk assessment, incident response, and proactive support for staff, patients, and visitors. Security Operations plays a vital role in emergency preparedness, workplace violence prevention, and the implementation of safety technologies and best practices, supporting UHN’s broader mission to build A Healthier World.
Duties
- Manage, administer, direct and control the activities and quality of services provided by the Security Operations Department, by providing direction and management to Security personnel.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, regulatory standards, and hospital policies, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act and standards governing licensed security personnel.
- Oversee licensing requirements for all security staff, ensuring appropriate credentials are obtained and maintained in accordance with Ontario Security Guard licensing regulations.
- Participate in corporate management by attending required meetings.
- Advise senior management on the status of Security, personnel matters and program implementation.
- Continuously improve the quality of services.
- Create and maintain an awareness and acceptance of the mission and goals of the hospital.
- Conduct investigations as required.
- Maintain satisfactory attendance in accordance with the University Health Network’s Attendance Management Policy.
- Perform cross-functional and other duties as assigned or requested.
Qualifications
- 6-8 years of experience
- Experience managing a unionized workforce is required
- Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator required
- At minimum, completion of a 2 year community college program in Law & Security or recognized equivalent.
- Excellent management and leadership skills
- Excellent knowledge of labour relations and collective agreements
- Analytical and problem solving skills
- Excellent organizational planning, time management and interpersonal/customer service skills
- Computer literacy
